Today I traded my Underwood carbine for this Walther made for Interarms import. PPk/S, .380. By serial number I'm getting late 1982. While not technically a C&R like a newer P1, it is basically identical and has the same profile as my 1939 Commercial PPk. Came with box and manual, but is missing its spare magazine, brush, and target. In the picture of the 1939 only, it is actually directly on top of the new one.

Accepted my choice for carry load (Liberty- 1 magazine), and PPU ball (3 magazines) flawlessly. First 7 shots are the SD....I pulled a couple out of the black to see if I was really in the black. Sights are better than the original, and at 40 feet I was spot on. This will pretty much be my regular carry piece.

This one is made by Walther, not the problem ridden Smith & Wesson since 1999.

Where would one find the recently departed Underwood?

Ok; says “made in USA” on the slide. I think I read somewhere that they were made in Alabama...still Interarms, not Smith & Wesson

Made by Ranger/Mid-South in Gadsen AL. Interarms as the importer under Walther license, with changes to comply with the 1968 gun control laws in the US market. The PPk was too small, so they put the PPk barrel and slide on the larger PP frame.

Azula open brown leather holster made specifically for the PPk; was putting my '39 PPk into it. Perfect fit
