Mossberg 500 question

So, I'm thinkin of picking up a Mossberg 500. I found a GREAT deal on one, but it doesn't have the barrel I want. I intend to try to find a barrel used, but am wondering if any other 12guage Mossberg barrels would fit. Anyone know if maybe a Mossberg 535, 5500, or 835 barrel would fit a 500? If more then one model will fit, it makes finding one easyer...

How much for that Mossberg where you found it at? I just saw one yesterday for $349 and thought it was a fair price for a pistol grip 12 GA.

This weeks Dick's flyer had a Mossberg 500 Field/Deer combo in either 12 or 20ga

It has 2 barrels:

A rifled cantilevered rifled slug barrel with a 2.5x20 scope

AND

A smoothbore field barrel

All for $279.98 after a $20 rebate

Hard to beat a deal like that........

funny coincidence.... I was in Dick's yesterday looking at that deal.... but I found a VERY good deal for a 500 that just needs some TLC (it is in total working order, just not all that clean). and I need a project lol.

I didn't state it 'cause I didn't wat this to seem like a "WTB" thread. I wanted to know if any barrels from Mossbergs other 12guage shotguns would fit the 500.
I'll say now that you asked; I want a rifled barrel, pretty much any length. but this is still not saying I want to buy one, as I don't even have the gun yet lol.

The answer is yes, I have taken off my 18.5" and placed on others, I made the damn thing look like some sort or evil broom stick one day at the range with a long barrel and pistol grips.

I'm pretty sure that the barrels from other Mossbergs aren't supposed to fit the 500 but I could be wrong. The compatible barrels I'm sure of are the Maverick budget shotgun barrels...

However, you're fortunate in that the M500 is second only to the Remington 870 in the variety of barrels available. I'm not sure why you would want to find one from another model as M500 barrels are widely available everywhere. Check Midway if you want to buy a barrel separately.

I would just go with the Dicks Deer/Field combo. $270 for the shotgun and two barrels is really hard to beat.

I was looking at some used 500 barrels on the Kittery Trading Post site, but they don't have the one I want. I am gonna look elsewere though.
The Dick's deal is plan B.

FWIW, the retail price on a new rifled barrel is about $170 at Midway.

I had a similar problem. I had a 20" home defense shotgun which was great but I wanted another barrel to use it as a slug gun for hunting season. I found that I could buy a single shot H&R rifled slug gun for cheaper than the price of the barrel. So another thing to keep in mind incase your situation is similar.
