I am looking for a review from anyone who has purchased one of these recently. I'm looking for a newbie skeet gun that will be functional for a reasonable price. I have read commercial reviews that are mostly good tempered with disclaimer about the price-point. I'm not looking for the next Olympic shotgun, just something to go break clays for fun.

Take a look at the ati cavalry shotguns. Less money and ive had good luck with them. Ive gotten them for less than 400 new at pullman without ejectors.

They are all made in turkey. Even the mossberg.

I owned one, and would not recommend it. Low end and incredibly inconsistent quality of manufacture.

At that price point, buy a semi. A nice used Remington 1100, or perhaps the 11/87 listed in the classifieds here would be a great choice.

IMO, You really need to be well north of $1000 to get a decent over under.

If this guy showed up on my doorstep I'd hand him my money and fill in the E-FA10 in a heartbeat: http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/threads/271331-Remington-11-87

I also would not recommend one. Shotguns are all about fit and cheap o/u usually skimp on fit and finish. I now shoot a beretta a300 semi auto I got on sale for $580. Short money for a great brand that is a real joy to shoot

I've had one... was it the nicest OU I've ever shot? No. But was it fine for an entry model? Yes.

My particular unit was decent quality. I didn't see anything to complain about really (at least at that price point).

The only deal breaker for me was the high comb. It was just too high for me (wish I had paid more attention when shouldering it in the shop).

Bottom line - Make sure it fits you. If it does, it's absolutely fine for your needs - functional, reasonably priced, and will break clays if you do your job.

The original Silver Reserve (not the II) had problems with breaking firing pins periodically. I own one and replaced the pins, and have spares, although the new pins seem to be holding up fine, so maybe it was a bad batch of pins. Who knows. Mossberg was willing to fix the gun for me, or send me the pins so I could do it myself, which was not difficult. I like the gun and use it for trap and bird hunting.

All my reading about the II on the shotgun forums indicates that it is a good gun. I say go for it.

I would not buy one without checking the barrel regulation. I've tested a few and the barrels have had different points of aim by 2-3 inches. Fire low recoil slugs without chokes from a rest at 50 feet and look at the target.

The lowest priced double I'd buy comes from CZ.

The fitting is good. The guns seem to be regulated well. (I've patterened two of them), and they are actually pretty. It should run you in the low $700s
