my friend just got a new s&w mp15 orc and we took it to the range to quickly discover the trigger pull is awful. any tips/tricks for an inexpensive upgrade? he isnt looking to do any competitive shooting with it (yet) but would like it better. i just ordered a spikes tact. ar and hope i'm not in the same boat when it comes in.

There are a number of replacement triggers on the market. Timney, Jewell, Giesselle, and Rock River all make AR15 triggers.

Other than that, just tell him to keep shooting it. He'll either get used to it, it'll wear in and get better, or both.

Since the timberwolf tactical stainless LPK got on a group buy needed working to function I did this 15min job on my AR 22lr build It worked very good and I have no issues as of yet. I also have found my Factory STAG AR trigger "broke in" after about 500 rounds. either I got used to it or it got better. The gritty feeling is no longer felt. good luck http://www.sargenthome.com/15_Minute_AR_Trigger_Job.htm

JP Enterprise Springs sound exactly like what you are looking for. A cheaper alternative then dropping $150+ on a match trigger. Check these out.

Spikes enhanced trigger is also a nice cheaper option.

maybe a polishing and a spring kit for now. the trigger kits are pricey. i'm the one who will end up doing the work and i wont do any heavy grinding on anyone elses products. i'd rather do drop in parts and have had great success with other firearm upgrades. thanks for all the tips. keep em coming! i dont wanna join any other forums.
