I am hoping to get some insight from you gun owners that are wiser and more experienced than myself.
I am looking to purchase a muzzleloader to use this coming deer season. I have found one gun that really interests me because is seems like a great deal.
Cabelas has a Pedersoli Denali .50 cal for $130, Dixie Gunworks has a Pedersoli Denali for $560! Same stock, same finish, looks to me like the same gun.
Cabelas
Dixie Gun Works
Am I missing something? Does anyone know anything about these guns? Is Dixie just really over priced?
Ideas?

Im not sure about ma hunting laws but check to be sure this is the type of muzzle loader we can use in mass before you buy it.

... I have never heard anything about them, but it looks like a break open style that utilizes a lever type action to open it. If this is the case it would not be legal for deer hunting in Mass.

I live in NH so no worries there, I'll keep my evil blackpowder out of the People's Republic of Massachusetts. [rolleyes]
Thanks for the replies, the eye roll is directed at Beacon Hill not you guys.

Boy they sure look like the same one to me. That's quite a bit of markup if that's the case. Have you looked at any of the TC's? The Pedersoli Denali is a nice looking gun but having been a blackpowder hunter for a couple years now, the TC Speed breech design would be just the balls IMO. My Omega has the same screw in breech plug that the Denali and most others use. You have to carry a wrench with you to remove it. Which to some may not be that bad, for me I think its a PIA. If you are out in the field and you have a load that doesn't ignite or you need to clear it for example, you better have your wrench with you or your screwed. The TC speed breech allows you to remove the plug with 1 hand, no tools necessary. Even though this scenario doesn't really happen often, if I were buying a gun again, I'd def. go the updated TC route. I just think its a better design for any what ifs. Just my .02
