Just finished my first AR this past week and had a chance to shoot it today.

Specs:
Daytona Tactical 80% lower = $69
Del-Ton A2 16" M4 style upper, M4 feed ramp, carbine gas system, 1x7 twist, phosphate coated BCG, flattop-fixed front sight = $460
DPMS lower parts kit with GI trigger group = $50
Fulton Arms A1 fixed buttstock with a rifle buffer tube and buffer = $95
UTG flip up rear sight = $18
Total cost = $692 complete

Milled the 80% on a bridgeport with X/Y DRO. Used jig to rough out, and finish cut with GI spec Blue prints.

I built this rifle for short to medium range shooting with the idea of having the most mobile platform I could make without having to buy a tax stamp and go the SBR rout. After shooting at the range from 25 and 50 yards, I feel like I have made the rife I was looking for. Easily hit clays at 50 yards and center paper at 25 yards. All with iron sights.

The only thing I might change is the trigger. It tends to be slightly creepy before break.

I'm super PUMPED!! [smile] [smile]

Good for you, sounds like you built yourself a nice rifle. Put a few more rounds thru it before you give up on the trigger group. I've always used high end lpk's when I build but used a DPMS in my 80% polymer build. I swear it breaks cleaner than the daniel defense ones I use regularly.
