There are two (2) thing that must be told up front.

First (1st)This Pistol does not have a mass trigger it has a stock free state trigger

Second (2nd) I was using my reloaded ammo. 230gr Rainer plated bullets using tightgroup powder and federal large pistol primers Brass was mixed range brass.

The Trigger:
I could immediately tell the difference between the trigger of the M&P 45 and My M&P9. The trigger still seems like it has some over travel but breaks easy, definitely less over travel than the M&P9 (Mass stock trigger) . I don’t have a trigger guage so I would guess my trigger is about 6lbs.

Recoil:
I was actually surprised at how manageable this pistol was. There was far less recoil in the M&P 45 than an Auto Ordnance 1911(crap gun). It was very manageable, and very easy to reacquire sight picture.

Overall I was extremely pleased with the M&P 45, fit with the small back strap was good. The only down side I can find is with the mags, to get the 10+1 you need to force the mag in.

A little warning to all you reloaders out there, it will throw the brass far.

My first 10 round out of this gun:

Nice man, those M&P's are pretty dam good guns all around. I would certainly be happy with that. Obviously you are as its your 2nd haha! Thanks for the review.

If you do this, you can make the M&P have a great trigger in all respects except for reset. Which you can remedy with an inexpensive apex kit.

I've done about 60% of this job. I didn't recontour the striker block safety plunger. But I did some of the other stuff pretty conservatively and it made a HUGE difference
to my free state gun's trigger. It went from 8.5# to 4.5# with all factory springs.

Both my M&P45's are running the Apex DCAEK, well worth the money and not hard to install.

I printed this out the day I posted this.

Ill do this if the above fails.

I like the Apex Kits because you are not altering any of the stock parts. If your not happy you can just put the stock parts back etc YMMV

Wiskie,

Just take it slow and easy and you can't screw up.

If anyone wants to try a M&P 45 with the Burwel DIY trigger job, let me know and I can meet you at mass rifle.

For what its worth, Burwell was one of the first to do trigger jobs on M&Ps. He charges a reasonable $80. The only downside is shipping.
If your dealer will cut you a break, he may be able to save you some money. A FFL can ship via USPS for about $11 insured. It will cost you over $40.

Sounds awful cheap.. I ship Priority insured and it's usually 20-$35 and the hassle of having to go to the PO to drop it off. Plus the dealer will have to log it in & out .. I would assume they would charge a fee but it still might be a bit cheaper than shipping it yourself via UPS or FedEx over night but you would get the benefit of having it return directly back to you that way.

A full sized M&P will fit into a small flat rate priority mail box. The flat rate is $5.35, anywhere in the country, no weight limit for all practical purposes.

I just shipped one out insured for $400 and the total was $11 and change.

Shipping can really add up if you add a ton of insurance. But even still, I shipped a Parker DHE 20ga/ejector/single trigger out to Larry DelGreggo to have some work done on it, priority mail REGISTERED insured for $16,000 and shipping was around $60.

I always way over insure and add signature conformation. If you dealer is only charging $11 maybe i will start having him ship thing for me [wink]

I am a licensee. Those are my costs.

If you insure, you don't need to add signature confirmation. They do that anyway when you buy insurance. You can't view it unless there is a loss, but its there. So you are unnecessarily paying for the sig confirmation.

Dealer cost on a brand new G34 gen 3 is about 525. So I was comfortable with $400. But even if I had insured for $525, it would have been only about $16.

Delivery conformation is free.. add $2 for signature conformation

I am looking towards getting a full sized M&P .45 as my next handgun. I love my M&P 9c. I had Lou at Business End Customs do the trigger on it and it was the best $50 I ever spent. Amazing gun and damn accurate now.

you wont be sorry with your purchase mctrinket, i also own a M&P 45 full size and it rocks. i had the trigger done, and it shoots like a dream. It really needs sights tho, that is my only gripe about it.
