Well, I went to the range and finally tried out my new S&W 460V 5" barrel magnum. All I can say about it is......I LOVE THIS GUN!!! not that bad on recoil, at least to me, accurate at 25 yards, I first tried it with the 454 Casull rounds, did great! then I went to the Hornady 460 rounds, the funniest part was when I fired the first 460 round, I could actually feel the concussion on the bridge of my nose! [laugh] and NO, it did NOT recoil back and hit me! [laugh], I also think I might have singed my eyebrows off! [rofl]
That is one HECK of a muzzle flash! but all in all, I really DO love it, it IS accurate and truth is, I really don't mind the recoil at all, truth is, I shot better with the 460V than my Ruger Mark III!! and for some reason did the WORST with my Glock 27! go figure! Guess I will have to use the 460V as my carry gun! [laugh]

Nice. I know the feeling. I have a S&W ES500 with the 2-3/4" barrel. The muzzle flash on this is pretty substaintial.

Drool.... I came so close to join the X-frame club. In the near future, I'll definitely get me one of these hand cannon. [wink]

Welcome to the dark side. X-frames are awesome, and the 5" .460 balances the best of all of them.

I was amazed at the recoil, I really thought it would be much more than it was! Now I just hafta figure out how to carry it! hehehe
Seriously though, I picked the 460 due to the fact it seemed a bit more versatile than the 500 since with the 460 I can fire 45 LC, 454 Casull, or the 460 mag. if it weren't for that I would have probably gotten a 500. either way, AWESOME firearm!

I just shot one today and man talk about want one now. The recoil was not bad at all. Beautiful weapon!

Yeah I had a pretty heft uni-brow before owning this gun now I am all set. I think the recoil is a function of two things weight and grip. And by the way these can conceal pretty well in the winter.
