Nashua clubs with indoor ranges plus how do folks find sponsors?

Hi, Anybody here members at Horse Pond and/or Nashua Fish&Game? I'm new to shooting pistols (just took 2 training courses at SigAcademy). I've been to both websites but I'd like some first hand info as well.

And in general, many clubs require you to have a sponsor. Well, I don't know anybody at either club. I can't just hang out in the parking lot now can I? How have most of you dealt with joining clubs?

Look into shooting a match there. You will meet lots of people.

Having belonged to 4 different clubs over the past 30+ years, none near Nashua, each had required a sponsor. I never worried about it and found it very easy to deal with. Here's how:

- I dropped by the clubs on a Sunday morning. Seems to be a favorite shooting (or breakfast) time. Whoever I ran into, I introduced myself to them and told them that I'd like some info on the club with the possibility of joining. Each time someone walked me around and gave me a tour and info on the facilities.

- I filled out an app, handed it in with a check and (if I didn't know someone) explain that and usually a BOD member will sign for you as long as you act "normal".

Sometimes someone will suggest that you shoot skeet/trap with them or plink with them, etc. so that they feel comfortable sponsoring you. Just do it, have fun and join up wherever you find that suits what you are looking for and seems friendly.

Also there are a ton of folks here on NES, including members of both clubs you asked about. Someone will likely pop up and invite you for a tour, etc. I know that I've done that many times for the 2 clubs that I currently belong to.

I just signed up at Nashua tonight. I didn't have a sponsor, but I sent the app in anyway. I got there chatted with one of the trustees for a few minutes and I was good to go. The orientation is in a couple weeks. Seems like a good place. I'm looking forward to shooting there.
