NYT makes it about a school in their headline, with no mention of college students involved in any story.

”These mass shootings have more to do with culture then they do criminality,” [Officer] Fitzgerald said. “Mayor Randall Woodfin said it best this weekend ‘we’re seeing far too many arguments being settled by bullets,’ and I think this speaks to exactly what our mayor recently said.”

Northeastern and Wentworth are located on Ruggles st, next to BPD headquarters. Next to the Annunciation rd projects.

Temple University is in the middle of the ghetto!!

I saw it mentioned that it was a paid hit. One of the dead was the intended target and everyone else was collateral. Of course, that information wont stop people from saying gun control would have stopped this. Sure, a gun control law will stop a murder for hire plot.

n a new conference Sunday morning, Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond says he believes someone was paid to kill the targeted victim, and they believe that victim is among those who died .Police believe multiple suspects arrived at the location in a vehicle. The suspects exited the vehicle and fired multiple shots at a group of people who were on the sidewalk of Magnolia Avenue before getting back in their vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Police say there are a total of 21 gunshot victims, including the four who were killed. The other 17 victims have injuries ranging from critical to non-life-threatening.
They are also working to determine who the target of the shooting was.

11:30 Saturday night outside a hookah bar. Hmmm.

Investigators were also trying to determine whether anyone fired back, creating crossfire. Police said approximately 100 shell casings were recovered at the scene.
Woodfun said there is an “element” in the city that is too comfortable carrying Glock switches — which convert semi-automatic handguns to deliver more rapid fire — and assault-style rifles with the intent of doing harm.
“Elected officials locally, statewide and nationally have a duty to solve this American crisis, this American epidemic of gun violence,” the mayor said.

Did anyone ask the shooter(s) for their photo IDs? If they had, the case would have been solved already. Of course, if they were open carrying the guns, then IDs are not required. Another gun loophole!

”After a mass shooting Saturday night in Birmingham, various politicians have called for the have called for legislation making the "Glock switches" allegedly used in the shooting illegal in Alabama…the law should call for a mandatory 25-year sentence if a victim survives a shooting with a gun altered with a Glock switch and a minimum of life without parole if a victim dies.

State Rep. Phillip Ensler, D-Montgomery, said that while some people who plan to carry out shootings will do so regardless, requiring a permit to carry would "deter and stop some people from getting their hands on guns."

The Montgomery City Council recently created an ordinance to require people concealing guns to carry photo identification. The law, which Reed signed into effect last Friday requires people concealing weapons to provide ballot-allowable identification. If they do not, police will confiscate their weapons, which they may retrieve within 30 days by providing photo identification and proof of ownership, as well as pay a fine.”
