My Cabela's special that I got for $30 a few years ago finally shit the bed. Just looking for something tacticool (I hang a small med pack off the molle on mine now) that is good for a laptop. $100 - $200, but higher if it's worth it.

I have a couple of the 3V packs (Paratus and Velox) that I bought years ago. Solid construction and well within your stated limits (Velox II is under that range). They have molle webbing on them too.

TJ Maxx and Marshalls had a tactical looking backpack with molle loops. Made from heavy duty ripstop. I got one for myself but my son took it for his laptop/gaming system. Pretty durable and it was less than 50.

My son bought a 5-11 tactical when he went into the Army. That was 10 years ago and it still looks new despite a ton of travel, including overseas into third world countries. Well constructed and shows no sign of wear.

I bought a Tumi leather backpack over 20 years ago. Plenty of travel with it and very little wear on it. It was pricey even back then but damn it will outlive me.

I have a 5.11 tactical as my truck bag. Has held up great and am very happy with the quality for the price point. Also has cow compartment.

Sierra's usually has a good stock of backpacks too

Have had one of these for a few years now. Not into the tacti-cool look and this threads the needle a bit. Wanted the waist strap for when I'm carrying heavy loads. Been all over the world with me and still looks almost new.

A lot of their stuff isn’t even made stateside for the last few years. It’s still nice but I prefer my old Dragonslayer to the newer stuff.

Another brand to look at (non-tactical) is Tom Bihn. Awesome products and customer experience.

Been using these for 10+ years. I'm on my second one. When they first came out they had a lifetime warranty, but it's only 5 years now. I haul a laptop lots on mass transit and planes. Works for me

not sure if serious, it is NES of all places. stop that skinflinting on what really matters!

Top of the line right here:

I use a SWISSGEAR Backpack for ten years now. It’s really durable and indestructible. Holds my laptop, lunch, couple water bottles, pens, electronic cables for charging stuff etc.etc. I don’t ever see a need to replace it as it still looks perfect.

I picked up the Hazard 4 Pillbox backpack for a few reasons. One of those was I wanted something a bit more rigid for everything I would carry. I got tired of the pack I was using sagging when I removed the laptop from it. The hard shell also helps protect what's inside from getting hit/crushed better. I still have my 3V bag, and can use it at any time IF I want to. Nothing says you cannot have more than one useful backpack on hand.
Oh, and all my packs have plenty of room for cables and other things I want to carry around. Like pens, ear plugs (for when they would set off the fire alarms at the old office) or earbuds so I could listen to tunes without disturbing other people. Lunch and water bottles would always go into a small cooler. Especially since I would take plenty of water with me each day I went to the office. I rarely needed to charge up my phone during a day at the office. At most, I would get it charging on my way home. Laptop was typically connected to a docking station and/or power cord setup in the cube I was using.

I have a Tru Spec back pack. Not sure of the model but Ice had it for about 10 years now and it literally looks like I got is yesterday, and Ive used it just about everyday since I got it. I kinda wish it would break in a little. The zippers are heavy duty and it has velcro in one of the compartments for a holster.

Checking this now...it has some kind of bolt in system to hang gear off of. It looks like it does have some kind of molle points I think? I like to hang a med pack off the back.

I had purchased a Hazard sling pack about a year ago. Well built.

Look for random discounts at both the OEM site and Amazon.

It definitely has a unique system to attach gear and extras, and the fact that it has a durable shell for a laptop and relatively fragile things is a plus. Ordered the bundle. When it gets here I'll post pics and comments.
