I need some help and I am coming on here for the advice and a good direction. I was on another post about the baofeng radio but chose to not to go with it just because I would get aggravated to quick. I am looking at these two radios as of right now and don't know which one I am gonna go with. I like them both but if I could get input on them both or if someone has one and has operated them. http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-007323 this is the one that im leaning towards but is this radio a little better or no?http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-010075 I like the FT 60 but I am just not sure. any help will be greatly appreciated

Not sure why you say you would get aggravated quick with the baofeng, I have two and love them. But if you're brand loyal I get that. I would go with the FT60 over the FT250 but I like having the option of using 70cm even though I'm on 2m 99% of the time.

The FT-60r is a great radio, i have two of them. They are fairly easy to program on the fly or by computer, and they are very simple to operate. That and they can take a beating and still work.

It's gonna be for the portable I'm gonna be getting. I have heard diamond is a good brand to go with but wanted to see what people said about them. I'm down in Attleboro so I don't know how far that will hit.im still super new to this haha.

I have an FT-60R and a Baofeng. If money is any issue, get the Baofeng. In a couple ways I like it better than my Yaesu. Otherwise, it will be wort the little extra for the FT-60R to have the 70cm band.

Range on the HT's or a 50w mobile it pretty limited without the use of a repeater since they operate line of sight.

figured I would go back on here and let everyone know I got the ft-60r I am looking forward to hit the air as soon as I can just gotta finish studying for the tech and I will be talking to everyone. thank you for all the help much appreciated.

While you're studying, tune around the repeaters local to you and listen to some of the nets and general ham traffic. This should help you figure out which repeaters are active and which aren't, and also give you an idea of how to handle yourself on the air. Also, make sure to program the USA 2 meter simplex calling frequency, 146.52. In my area this is dead 99.99% of the time but it's good to leave it in a scan rotation. Here are a couple of on line repeater directories:
