Sadly, I just learned that a NES member has passed away. I've known Ken Maurer probably since the early 1990s. He was an instructor and a NES Mod here. I last spoke with him at our April Londonderry Fish & Game Club meeting. He will be missed.

RIP Marine!

Ken taught my first NRA instructor course about a million years ago. I didn’t know him well or beyond that short interaction, and I didn’t become a mod here until after he was inactive but I’m sad that he’s passed. I appreciate his service to the Corps and pray for his family’s peace. RIP

I took a class with Ken a long time ago. And I remember one piece of wisdom he shared.

He and his wife were getting ready for a very fancy dinner/party. He may have been wearing a tux.

His wife saw him put a handgun in his pocket and asked him if he really thought he'd need that during this event?

His reply? If he really thought he'd need it they wouldn't be going...

:)
