New 1911 Smith Pro WTF

I can't get the slide latch out to strip it. Should I hit the @#$# thing with a punch? Is this normal to be in so tight? Thanks.

Take the barrel and wiggle it back and forth a little while your pressing on the slide release from the other side with the plastic end of the bushing wrench. Just make sure the slide release hole is lined up while your doing it.

If you can get it out far enough you can use the flat part of the bushing wrench as a fulcrum under it.

My 1911PC S&W was nice and snug, well fitted. The notch had to be just right

I use an assortment of wood dowels for pushing tight pins. No risk of scratching the finish.

I tried all that was suggested. I even taped it and hit it with a brass drift. The thing will not come out. Anymore suggestions before it goes back to Smith?

don't mess it up, call smith and if needed send it back.

make sure you push the slide stop down when tapping it out so that it will clear the notch
