New Folks Check In and Say Hi #4

Hi again! I was active on this forum in the past, and even have a few NES branded AR lowers from a group buy back in 08. Found the forum again after a little break in shooting. Nice to see some familiar names here.
Hi, good to see you again.

Hello gents! Another new guy for you to take pot shots at! :D

I'm Jim from Central MA. I grew up in Southern CT, spent 20 years in the USAF and then settled down in Central MA 25 years ago. Haven't managed to to move out yet (but considering it in retirement!). 9 of my years in the USAF were spent in Maine (Loring AFB!) so I don't have much time outside of New England at all.

I target shoot for fun. 9mm and 40S&W. I've got rifles and shotguns and just add a Sig MPX to the collection last year. But to be honest, most of my rifle shooting is done with my trusty Marlin-Glenfield Model 60 .22LR that I bought new back in the 1970s.

I'm a member at Marlboro Fish & Game, an NRA Life Members and a member of GOAL.

I keep seeing this site mentioned on Reddit so figured I'd check it out!

Thanks for having me.

Welcome

MF&G brings back memories, learned to target shoot there, back when I was 10 or so. Do they still have the 22 range under the bar?

Although I have many larger caliber guns, I spend a lot of time shooting 22's also.

I just bought a new Henry 22 lever action and it is so pretty I can't bring myself to shoot it yet [rofl]

Welcome to NES!!!

Yes, they do! I've been a member there for years and tbh, the only people I ever see go down there are the Junior Rifle Program members.

Hi.

I read that target shooting is legal in NY state forests and natural management areas.

Do you know of any south of Albany, east of Binghampton that specifically allow this?
i have gone here for organized shoots that they do, bullseye mostly IIRC. I may have done an Appleseed there.

i am not certain about using state land for target shooting. I have friends in Copake who own farm land and we hunt and shoot on that. Make some friends with your local gun community and you will likely get invited to a private range. Lots of farmland south of Albany.

Hello all,

I'm Edward, I found this site while looking up laws in my state about ccw. I'm from Mass (sadly). I got into guns during my junior year of high school where there was a big anti gun protest at my school that got my attention and I decided not to go to after some research, and now that I have my LTC and a few guns, I'm into precision long range shooting, hunting, and competition shooting. All of which are unfortunately cucked in the state.

Welcome Edward. You can be a help too, if you join.

Seriously, welcome, NRS is a good group of people with a below average number of a**h***s. and they are easily tolerated. [smile]
