Has anyone here purchased a SIG Mosquito in the last month? I was just at FS so i decided to ask one of the guys about it since i hear alot of negative feedback. He did say the earlier Mosquito's had alot of problems, and that the gun has been updated by SIG twice since its release. He told me the newest one just came out about a month ago and Sig is telling them they WON'T have problems with this one. lol

So my next question was, Would you try one? He only response to me was "Maybe a new one." So who here has one and are the problems fixed. Right now FS is offering a good deal $319 NIB, down from $400 since they want to get people to start buying them again due to the bad rep it got.

I have one I bought at FS about 9 months ago I too was told its the newer updated one. Its was fussy on what ammo its likes, it doesnt like blazer but mine loves remington golden bullit and federal value pack. Its just a little up graded p22 and 319 is a good price, 400 is to much $$ for this plinking gun. So far its been running OK and with the $$$$$ of ammo I find I take it with me to the range more and more. Also check out sig forum for more info. Good Luck.

i was just curious because supposively another "updated" one had just come out. My question to them was how do you know what an updated one is and not an older one someone has had sitting on a self. Aside from pulling the serial numbers and calling Sig there is no way to tell. At least with FS its a good price and you know your getting the newer one. I guess they stopped selling them for a period of time.

Most .22 SA pistols will be picky about their ammo. My SW22 is picky, my SW317 is picky, I used to have a Ruger 22/45 that was picky, and my SW41 is picky. It's all about finding the right match to your gun in particular, once you do that reliability shouldn't be an issue as long as you clean regularly.

We normally run the walmart federal 550 value pack ammo in my buddies P22. It works pretty well but, I would say in 20 shots I might get 1 round that fails to chamber. I was just at walmart tonight and noticed they are now stocking the Remington 550 value packs. I'm assuming they were 36 grain. I wanted to compare the price between that and the federal. I was going to grab some but of course i couldn't find anyone to open the case. The one guy i asked didn't speak english to well and told me i had to go up front. I said the hell with it and left.

I'll most likely stick to buying my ammo in bulk at a NH walmart!!!!!!

I've run two of these through my P22 without much trouble. I think one round out of the 1100 didn't feed right. The slide does fail to lock back all the time, and the barrel unscrews itself slightly after 50-100 rounds, but it does both those things with any ammo I've tried.

I used to have a Mosquito and hated it. It was very picky on ammo I used but sold it a while ago and bought the new SR22. It has the 4.5" barrel and longer slide. It will eat any type of ammo I feed it and have had ZERO issues. This pistol isn't available in Ma yet but I found one. uploadfromtaptalk1458583416570.jpg

I have owned 3 Mosquitoes. 2 had issues and one was fine.

First one would not cycle anything less powerful than CCI minimags. Didn't like anything else even if it was marked High Velocity.
Second one would not cycle with 10 rounds in the magazine, worked fine with 9. Sent pictures to Sig explaining how the 10th round laid nose down in the mag. The told me to hold the magazine upside down and tap it before I loaded. What a joke.
THird one ran fine with everything marked high velocity. even ran ok with Aguila Standard Velocity and Federal Match Target. Never had an issue with it. Sold it because I would rather shoot my Ruger Mark III.

I've had mine about 5 years so it's not the new one :) Spent a few hours on it following tips I found. It has performed very well on most High velocity ammo with little to no jams. As with most 22s you need to keep them clean and the slides lubed as 22s don't have much gas. the mags needed a little work to smooth out the 10 rd ftl, the ramp needed some polishing. I try to use cci mini mags or Aguilar hv in it. It does not like bulk ammo, 1 in 20 will ftl or fte but it is so much fun to shoot and has a great feel. On the other hand I have a S&W Target that will run a box of 325 bulk of any kind with out a single failure, but it is not as fun.

OK, this thread has crushed my hopes. I'm looking for a good alternative to an SR22 and thought the mosquito might be it. Oh well, the hunt continues.

I think the mosquito is great, probably because mine works lol. I wouldn't suggest it hearing all the horror stories. Why not look for the Smith m&p 22?

I don't see the Mosquito model offered at the Sig web page. I thought I'd heared somewhere that they were being dropped.
