Howdy folks,

Moved to MA in July and just picked up my LTC-A and am looking to get back into the sport.

Could someone recommend a good range and gun shop that's not too far from watertown?

I have a few rifles and handguns so I'm looking for a outdoor/indoor range.

Much appreciated,

OP:

More details will give you a better answer. My club, Southborough Rod & Gun, is a "general Interest shooters club"; others are more into Clays, or Action Pistol, or Gallery.....

We have a trap, pistol, and rifle event each month; indoor and outdoor ranges, etc. Let us know what you are looking for.

Moab or Tellico and a Jeep avatar, to MA. Ouch.

In gun terms, that's like moving from Texas to New York....

Welcome fellow four wheeler.

Stay away from Law Enforcement Equipment (LEE) in Waltham.
Walter charges arms and legs for things and gets pissed when you don't buy his over priced crap.

I go to reading rifle and revolver. They have a 1000 yd range as well as a 100 yd range and an indoor pistol range..
Good people with big emphasis on safety and rule following.

Check out Harvard

For gun shops: Four Seasons in Woburn, Collectors in Stoneham, Precision also in Woburn.

Thanks for the feedback! I will certainly look into the MRA in Woburn. I'm itching to get back into the sport and having to wait all this time was a pain.

Depending on how far you are willing to travel, I would highly recommend Hopkinton Sportsman Association. My girlfriend is a member there, great club, great members, great indoor/outdoor facilities, and great club events (USPSA, steel plate matches, etc.). I belong to the Worcester Pistol and Rifle Club, and I would recommend this club for the same reasons (although club events are slightly different, pin shoots, IDPA, etc.), except our membership is full, and there is a waiting list. So not the best choice if you are looking for something to join immediately.

Woburn Sportsmen's Association (In Bedford, not Woburn) has pretty good outdoor facilities, and it's pretty close to Watertown.

Try Maynard Rod and Gun Club. I've been a member for 3 years and love it. Archery, Trap, Skeet, outdoor and indoor R/P . Great function facilities, lots of family events and a nice lounge. Cheap, and friendly folks too...

Harvard is great. I have been a member there for just about a year. There's something for every type of shooter. Wide selection of ranges with varying distances. There's always something going on at the club, and the club breakfasts are top notch!

Not to mention, 24-hour indoor pistol range!

Everyone I have met at this club is very friendly with a big emphasis on range safety. Since there's no Range Officers, all shooters look out for one another.

I did have one guy flip out on me for coming around the dividing wall with an open revolver in hand having no clue that that range was just called cold. I turned around to walk back to the range I came from and he was yelling and cussing and generally looked ready to pop a vein. Everyone else I've talked to at Harvard has been pleasant [laugh]
