Hi - New to NES - just looking for a little guidance on LTC CCW in Danvers.

I'm sure you've all heard lots of stories before. Today headed off to Danvers PD to submit application for LTC - No Restrictions. Waited two hours then escorted to a room with a computer - all the while the only words spoken by female staff member was requesting individual documents. She stuck to business, entered my data, took my picture and fingerprints. Virtually no communication until she handed me a sheet that documented my visit and application. She merely said I'd hear about my LTC Class A in 6-8 weeks. Really? That's it? Talk about feeling dispatched.

Question: Is this typical? I thought the new laws addressed the imperial approach toward granting us our 2nd Amendment. I'll be upfront - this was just a little sterile. What am I to expect?

I'd appreciate any recent experiences in Danvers going for unrestricted LTC?

I have no idea what you are referring to when you say "I thought the new laws addressed the imperial approach toward granting us our 2nd Amendment.".

What do you think changed?

a. FID can only be denied for statutory issues not suitability
b. Applications must be processed within 40 days or you can assume it is a denial and petition the courts
c. you can appeal a suspension, revocation, denial of, or restriction applied to a License by filing a petition for judicial review in district court within 90 days.
d. If you apply for renewal your receipt will serve to extend your LTC/FID until you receive your new one

Nothing less imperial there.... What were you expecting?

My initial application in Attleboro was very much his way. My renewal in Mansfield was a lot more friendly. I didn't care how it went so long as I wasn't jerked around for my LTC (and wasn't, either time).

Perhaps a poor choice of words - the sterile "doesn't matter, we're not going to approve you" attitude was striking.

Thanks for the info and NES welcomes...I look forward to the vast experience here and consider it a great source for information. I'll be sure to update that thread with the outcome.

My sister is going to apply for a LTC in Danvers. The directions on a town form is somewhat contradictory with regard for reason to carry. I originally told her to write for "All legal purposes" but the form says that this is not acceptable alone and that a specific reason needs to be added. The next sentence states that the "All Legal Purposes licenses no longer exist" which must be a town thing. I also assume that means it is not added onto the license and one only receives a restricted or non-restricted license.

She isn't a hunter or collector and just wants the LTC for self-protection. So, does she just write for all legal purposes including self-protection or does she need to be more specific than that. Anyone from Danvers go through this and what did you write for a reason other than hunting or collecting.

• IMPORTANT – Application Question “Reason(s) for requesting the issuance of card or license”. The broad term “All Lawful Purposes” may not be accepted alone. Explain specifically why you are requesting an unrestricted license. The old All Lawful Purpose licenses no longer exist. Licenses are issued by the state as restricted or not restricted. For the renewal of a license simply write “renewal” in the reason for issuance section.

My application in Ashland was pretty similar. The LO just asked me a few questions to verify the data he was transcribing from my application. We did have some light conversation, but nothing earth shattering.

Took my picture, printed me, handed me the receipt from MIRCS and said applications were running around 12 weeks at that point. He wasn't kidding.

Weird. Maybe call up and ask if there was something wrong, or if theres anything that you could do?
Civil servants are usually beacons of light with butterflies in their bellies and and love in their hearts. Maybe she wasnt getting enough overtime that week? Did you stop to think of her feelings?
I hope it wasnt anything that you did. They have a hard enough job. You dont need to add to it.

Welcome to NES[wave]
I doubt there's anything to worry about or interpret from some paper-pusher's attitude. Your application is in. Sit tight for 6-8 weeks (the law says it should take less than 6[angry]) and see what you get. I don't think there's any action you can take now that won't piss off some paper-pusher and make things worse.

Good luck and enjoy all the shooting sports!

No, no it isn't. It's from today. I used an old thread from Danvers because it was a new question for a new shooter, my sister. My post started at #15.
The OP (original post) is from 2016, as you mention, it's an old thread. There were people saying "welcome" and referencing XXDanvers waiting 2 hours for an appt...they weren't talking about your new question. Sparkey asked a question directly to XXDanvers...

I didn't know that I had to translate everything for them. I was trying to avoid a new thread on the same subject. I guess that it didn't work. [laugh]
