New York expands 'gun free zones' to encompass huge parts of cities

They need to continue to triple and quadruple-down on this stuff. Because at some point, liberal courts are gonna look at them and say, "Dude. Even I can't defend that. Are you people soft?" We are already seeing Biden and Bama appointees defending Bruen. It's only a matter of time. Conservative judges nation-wide defended RvW even though they personally disagreed with it.

Gov. Hochul declares 'theory' of ‘good guy with a gun’ stopping armed 'bad guys' is over

'We don't need guns on our streets,' Hochul says

Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared at an event celebrating the implementation of stricter gun laws that the "theory" of "a good guy with a gun" stopping "bad guys" with guns is over in the Empire State.

"This whole concept that a good guy with a gun will stop the bad guys with a gun, it doesn't hold up. And the data bears this out, so that theory is over," Hochul said Wednesday.

Her comments came amid the state rolling out new laws in response to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling earlier this year that New York’s regulations on obtaining a concealed carry permit were unconstitutionally restrictive.

The new laws took effect Thursday and ban people from carrying firearms at most hospitals, restaurants, transit systems, Times Square, parks, schools, theaters and other areas deemed "sensitive locations."

Really, Kathy, just change your name to Karen and be done with it!

Being in construction, Never lived in NYC but worked for a few years in the late 90's. And have worked about 30 yrs in Boston and have unfortunately seen to much of what goes on in both.
As far as 2A goes i have always considered Boston the pimple on the ass of America. Now with the way NYC is acting towards legal gun owners. I now consider it the actual Ass hole of America.
I visited ground zero shortly after 9-11 And it was worth the trip. but i will never go there again unless someone pays me "A LOT of money!!!!"

they will not comply with any pro gun court orders no matter what. They'll just keep incrementally using semantics and word play to exploit loopholes, and tie us up in the courts forever. The only thing that will ever restore the full 2A is for the tyrants to get shot in the f***ing face or strung up from the gallows.

That "retired law enforcement" bit is a real slap in the face to the rest of us. A retired cop is an ex-cop, a lowly civilian like the rest of us. Retired military certainly do not get this perk, why should a retired cop?

Make laws ignoring the ruling....go to court....get law struck down.....make new law ignoring that order.....rinse, repeat will be the democrat playbook on these rulings.
No ability to punish the state.

Heller says the government cannot ban weapons in the common use of people. Yet many states do that. And nothing has been done about it since Heller or McDonald.
Not looking hopeful.

Yeah if Heller says guns in common use are protected, how come in MA, mere civvies can only be trusted with ancient 25 year old Glocks but cop and mil carve out can get the new ones?

Local leaders and law are hacks and are breaking the law.

The goal of the other side is to take territory from our side, any territory no matter how small.

If banning S&W revolvers with a serial number ending in 3 was all they could get enacted, they would go for it.

The more territory they take the better for their side. Same for our side.

Thursday’s Baring Arms podcast mentioned Hochul said new CCW permits not approved before 1 Sept had to be resubmitted under the new law - any confirmation on that? While thousands are in progres, I suspect few were fully processed between Bruen and 1 September.

Would love to see someone do a GIS map with all these locations indicated.

NY and CA. will defy SCOTUS on gunz even when they lose again in court. Unless we have a POTUS that would send in US Marshall's to arrest the Pols who write and pass these Unconstitutional laws they win.

That would be something GOA/FPC will probably be formulating for their lawsuits. Tax maps are all digitized so it would be fairly easy for GIS experts to construct.

Imagine an app that has Geofencing/Routing to take a CCW holder on a legal trip in NY - fastest path vs “legal path” to skirt all the parks, school, public property, public transportation, etc. That would certainly demonstrate the huge burden on the armed citizen.

Add dots for pre- and post-restrictions shootings & armed robbery to show just how silly it all is.

Hochul may just be the idiot libtard 2A supporters have long been waiting to encounter. She may very well run the table on a wide range of unconstitutional infringements that the USCC will take up Sua Sponte, as they Did Cataeno, to correct. Not they will listen, but eventually, NY will have to cave.

Who is the USCC? And SCOTUS did not take it up sua sponte, but granted a petition for cert.

Sua Sponte is used by the MA Supreme Marsupial Court when it sees a gun case coming up and wants to take advantage of the opportunity to rule based on preferred public policy rather than law.

Here's just the points with education, hospitals, post offices, etc. all the simple ones. These are the points only, no buffer around them.

This game plan is not new.

About 30 or so years ago when Koch was mayor NYC faced the possibility that changes to NY law would remove the concept of restrictions on permits. Kotch announced if that passed, any pistol permit that was not already a hens tooth ("Special Full Carry" is the NYC term) would be immediately revoked.

Why would they? Ignoring SCOTUS decisions clearly works. And ignoring the revised secondary clarifications (like McDonald) also works.

The sad truth is if a state doesn't want to go along with a SCOTUS ruling they probably can and will get away with it. Not like the feds are going to step in and force huge pro 2A law on states.

Tyranny and oppression. Those restrictions are infringements.

If scotus somehow overrules those restrictions they would be overruled everywhere, no?
