I pulled this metal rod thingy out of my gun. Judging by the way it slides when I pull back that handle doo-hicky, I'm thinking I should give it a light coat of oil. No? Suggestions? thanks.

I've used Kroil on my other handguns with success.

That is your bolt/action assembly. Some oil would do it fine. Just fine. Slidey parts generally like it and Kroil sounds good to me.

Its always good practice to oil up doo-hickeys and thing-a-ma-bobs... especially the slidy ones. [smile]
I dont own a MP15-22 so I cant be any more help than that.

yea it was pretty damn gritty after probably 500 rounds.

Cleaned it, wiped it, sprayed it, wiped it again. It's a b!tch to get into every little crevice. I'm finding qtips and compressed air help.

That doohickey actually separates into 3 thingamabobs and makes cleaning it somewhat easier.

Significantly so. When I had mine I sprayed it with M-Pro 7 and scrubbed it under hot running water, then dried it with compressed air and lubed the hell out of it. I found that the grease I use was a bit thick (caused FTF's much sooner) so I used oil and it ran without a hitch.

Make sure you take a pick and pick out all the grime that hides in the little ring around the firing pin, that'll give you feeding issues if it stays and it doesn't always come out with mere scrubbing.
