Back story: I own a single action or two. (I like things basic and simple.) I also have a couple young friends who “want to know about guns”. Thought they should also see a double action, so I called my local FFL and asked if they had one close to a hundred bucks. Unfeeling sumbich just laughed at me.

Found a cheap .32 H&R model 732 SA/DA with swingout cylinder for $125 on GB. Cool! So I did some research on the ugly duckling I'd bought. Cannot find a single bad review. Yeah, it's ugly, but all steel, rugged, accurate, and because so many were produced, still cheap. The ammo isn't super-blastoid category, but still a manstopper with low recoil. (That's a consideration for a guy who needs to pay attention to his joints.) Hell, it's a serious gun. After a proper douching and lubing, the action is as smooth as any of the single actions I've disassembled and polished the crap out of. Can't wait to shoot it.

And there's a .22 LR version (929)! Same grip, same sight picture—geez, a guy can blast away for cheap and get all that muscle memory dialed in.

It gets even better. There's a damn .32 magnum version (R73)--similar grip, same sight picture, and it'll fire H&R .32 magnum, .32 S&W Long, and S&W .32 (short).

This is kind of a rush for a low-tech guy. Finding a holster might be a hassle, though.

The 950 is a nickel plated 9-shot .22lr with a non-swinging cylinder. Fun plinking gun and dirt cheap. I never really understood why H&R guns in general were so inexpensive when they are really well-made, solid guns.

One gun I regret selling years back was a H&R self-loading .32acp. It was a licensed knock-off of a Webley autoloader. Whoever I sold that to, if you're reading this, wanna sell it back? ;)
