Starting temp 30. Ending temp 21. I thought it was going to be another evening of bucks only, but then finally a doe came out. I was going to have Cathy take it since she still had a tag, but she couldn't get eyes on it. So I punched my tag instead.

The trauma a 308 does at 120 yards is incredible. The deer took off like a bat out of hell. I couldn't keep eyes on it because I had a limited sight window. Grabbed my gear and went down to the shot zone. I look to my left and it was like someone spray painted a two foot wide section of tall grass red for 20 yards. I've never seen anything like it.

Btw, puffy pants and boot slip overs rock

Nice work. Always enjoy your 'livin' the dream' posts. [thumbsup]

Between you and a friend here, I may end up hunting deer again. Last season I had some smoked venison tenderloin medallions that were pretty amazing.

It's good stuff and it's not injected with god knows what, or processed in some disgusting warehouse. We have nine in the freezer with this one. The deer and the 85 kokanee salmon will carry us for the year.

We have like 250 pounds of hamburger. I added 30% beef suet to make it nice and tasty. Piles of backstraps, neck roasts and hind roasts. This deer will made into jerky and sausage.

My wife has one tag left. We will try to fill that one tomorrow. That one will be gifted to friends.

Nosler Ballistic Tip. 165 grains. They have been very effective. My wife uses 143 gr Hornady Precision Hunters in her 6.5 creedmor. Those are just as good, if not better. We have taken six deer this year and all were done after one shot.

Out again today. I hunted with cathy's camera. No wt does. Saw some muley does. And we had a wt buck 30 feet from us playing stare down with Cathy. He tried winding us but we were stuffed pretty good in the junipers. At one point we thought he was going to come right up to us. First time my wife experienced that. Her heart was pounding 😁
