Nics is the federal Brady check done using the 4473.Hello, whats the difference between NICS and MIRCS background checks when transferring a firearm as an FFL? Do you only use NICS for just frames and receivers and MIRCS for complete firearms?
Ok makes sense thanks for your response. And for NICS you could transfer complete firearms right? Not only just frames or receivers?Nics is the federal Brady check done using the 4473.
Mircs is what the state uses to issue and process ltc s and fid s. Its also the portal used by residents to interact with the chsb regards to Efa10 and other transactions. Dealers use mircs to do the efa10 s as well.
Within the scope of MA, whatever you transfer in to MA needs to be MA approved. Be that MA Assault Weapon Ban compliant rifles and shotguns, pistols or other firearms. Complete or frames…So you could transfer complete firearms with NICS correct and not only just frames or receivers?
Ok understood, thanks for your responseWithin the scope of MA, whatever you transfer in to MA needs to be MA approved. Be that MA Assault Weapon Ban compliant rifles and shotguns, pistols or other firearms. Complete or frames…
Or if you just by from a MA dealer for yourself from their own stock.
That said some dealers dgaf about the pistol roster.
While others that aren’t FFL07s like to play f*** f*** with frames… what’s your risk tolerance?
All those are done through NICS checks either online or by phone, and most dealers will complete the MIRCS “registration of sale” (state owned info on your Guns) and you won’t have to worry about it.
