So, this seems like it should be simple, but of course, it's not. I like night sights like the TFOs from truglo, or the meprolights. I find that the bright green sight post helps me to focus quickly to the front post. To me, the "night" portion of it is less important than the sight picture. The issue is in ordering the correct part. I have contacted meprolight and truglo, neither was helpful. I sent an email to a gunsmith I have used before, but he has not responded... Basically, I would like to get this moving forward but am looking for help with that. I am located in North Central, MA, but am willing to travel a bit.

Any recommendations are appreciated...

STOP.

The freaking sight cuts for a SW1911 are proprietary cuts, they are NOT any standard cuts.

Couple of years ago I tried to put Heinie straight-eight sights on my SW1911 and my Kimber Target-II. Stripped the slides and sent them to them. Couple weeks later I got them back with new sights mounted in the Kimber and with the S&W untouched. Called them and asked WTF? Found out then that they couldn't match it.

Maybe a year ago I wanted to add my Burris Fastfire-II to my SW1911 to shoot pins so I did the whole internet/phone search again, and the only way I could do it was to have a local machine shop custom cut me a mount.

The SW 1911 were/are made with three differen sight cuts. Novak makes most of the sights for the SW 1911. You can send them the slide and they should set you up. The Sight department at Novak has it own phone number on their web sight . Very good folks.

OP -If Greg's advice works out, please post back to this thread because it would give me more options for my SW1911. I spent months trying to get sights for it before I had the mount made, and it was very frustrating. (Greg - I'm not doubting you, I've seen some of the pictures you've posted here of your work). Thanks.

^^ if anyone on NES would able to answer this question it's Greg.

Btw, here is the response from truglo. Obviously a no go here.

At this time, we do not offer sights for the S&W 1911 series pistols and do not recommend the modification of any other sight set for use on this platform.

We are always evaluating new firearms for additions to our product line.

Your email will be forwarded to our engineering department for consideration.
