I have heard that Sirius Satellite Radio is broadcast from space to radio towers then transmitted to cars ect.
Does anyone know if this is true?
If so I don't get a signal under trees and in my garage sitting in my car.
Any thoughts for the novice?

i am almost shure the signal comes down from
the south west sky and the towers are repeates and
are there to take care of dead spots .
i may be off on the repeter

Those services come straight from the satellite.

In major metropolitain areas like NYC, Chicago etc where the height of the buildings block the signal, they do use repeaters to get the signal down to the street.

Anything outside of downtown and you are at the mercy of the satellite

Or, at the mercy of the White Mountains.

I lose XM signal a lot, even when it doesn't appear the slope is that extreme.

Still worth it, though. As the saying goes:
Q: "What's your favorite radio station when driving through the North Country?"
A: "I have no idea. They all fade out before the end of the song!"
