Just got my LTC last year and I've accumulated a few Ruger and Smith & Wesson handguns so I've gotten familiar with their product line and noticed that both brands offer a lot of MA compliant versions that meet the the 10 round limit so I've been assuming that most brands are the same way. Yesterday I stopped by a small local shop and the owner gave me a few catalogs including the 2015 Sig Sauer (drool) catalog. When I was checking out the line I noticed that most of the models exceed the 10 round limit. Are they just illegal in MA or are there ways to limit the capacity?

There are no pistols that are illegal in MA, just the mags. Any sig sauer pistol is legal assuming LTC-A. The mags are max 10rd capacity unless made prior to 1994. For the P226 preban mags are easy to find. Dont worry what the sig website says about MA compliance.

you find a MA FFL to transfer you the gun you want and thats it. If thr mags are 15rd then the FFL can keep em and you order 10 rounders separately. At least this my approach. YMMV.

There are no non awb covered pistols that are illegal in Massachusetts. The pistols mentioned are fine, but if a pistol falls under the awb and is post 94 it is illegal.

Yeah, I shouldn't have used the word "illegal". I have a basic understanding of how it works. I didn't realize that there were preban or 10 round limited mags available. I mistakenly assumed that was just a Glock thing.

Mec Gar makes some great 10 round SIG mags for a reasonable price. Try Top Gun Supply.

PS I have found that Mec Gar 10 round 9mm mags are more reliable than the stock ten round mags.

Most manufacturers make 10 round mags for each pistol in their lineup, but if you see one in a store, it might be packaged with >10 round mags. Some brand new pistols might not have 10 rounders available yet.

OP i no longer understand your questiom

Wha?

I was asking how folks are getting away with purchasing Sig models that come with mags that are over 10 rounds. For example Ruger sells the SR9 in a 17 round version and a 10 round version. Sig doesn't offer 10 round version in a lot of their models. I wasn't aware that there were aftermarket companies making 10 round mags.

If it's Mass compliant there will be 10 round mags for it, which model are you looking at?

Mass FireArms School has a good website, you can see all the available Sig models in Mass:

The link is just 9mm.
