i took a walk to four seasons wednesday to pre-purchase a gun for the tax free weekend. i'm still unemployed, ui bennies have ceased, but by jesus i want one of those ruger redhawk .45 acp/45 colt revolvers. i figured i would still have electrics and gas for a couple months if i skipped a few payments, and could probably get the power back on cause i need it to run a nebulizer. well the guy tells me no can do, it ain't on the freaking list! this set back is giving me time to re-evaluate what some might call a poor money management decision, but i want it more than ever now. last publication of said list was may, hopefully a new one will be out in sept. before i come to my senses and think twice. damn it.

nope, but this my friend is the aftermath of several mai tai's. there's a lesson to be learned here, i just don't know what.

I had always wanted a Redhawk convertible but having had a GP100 (.357) and a Blackhawk convertible (45 LC/ACP) and comparing them at the range side by side I decided to stand pat.

Even comparing a GP DA 357 (hot loads) to a BH SA 45 (either LC or ACP) I shot the SA better because of the SA trigger and got back on target, hammer cocked, only milliseconds slower than the DA. If I cocked the GP's hammer I shot it as well as the BH but lost that millisecond advantage.

Get the Blackhawk convertible...it's on the list. Then, down the road, get a Redhawk in 44 Magnum. You'll have plenty of time to cock the hammer while getting back on target...if you want to.
