Has anybody here in the Northeast ever visited the NRA Whittington Center in New Mexico? I remember the controversy when it was proposed and opened; most centered around the fact that the vast majority of ordinary NRA members would never have the opportunity to take advantage of the facilities.
Now, especially as travel with firearms is something many people avoid, I think even fewer members would be planning on loading up the car and making the trip.
Personally, I think the NRA should have helped more with smaller facilities scattered around the country. I am still annoyed that there is no public, pay for the day, outdoor rifle range in my State of NH.
I and many others, even way back when, felt that the Whittington Center was for the "upper crust" of sportsmen. (By the way, I was a member for twenty years and also the executive officer of a gun club for about eight of them.)
