I had made mention in the mega-thread about using NVIS antennas for local HF communication. I am wondering if anyone has used them? What kind of performance did you get? Any info you wish to share about them?

Really, anything that you realistically put up from 80-40 meters is going to be NVIS. Think about it -- the "easiest" band to get an antenna up to a realist 1/2 wave for the take off angle to be relatively low is 40 meters, and that will be 60 +- feet. And the MUF for NVIS seldom favors 40, so you're left looking at 80 and 60m. A 1/2 wave at 80 meters is 130 feet, so just about everybody's antennas on that band but the Big Gun stations is NVIS by default.
