Heller was a ban case
McDonald was a 14th amendment case
Bruen conceded they were not challenging the requirement for a license to possess
So there is no SCOTUS precedent on licensing until Bruen's footnote 9 is used to challenge licensing as a facial challenge.
Fingers crossed we can strike down licenses required to purchase/possession at home or ranges.
I don’t see that happening in Massachusetts unfortunately.Fingers crossed we can strike down licenses required to purchase/possession at home or ranges.
Sounds about the same as in NH. NO license needed to purchase, or possess. Plus no requirements for how you store your firearms. Plus, no 'license' needed if you want to own something full auto. Or a cannon. Plus Constitutional Carry rules apply.I don’t see that happening in Massachusetts unfortunately.
I had my eyes opened when I moved to Georgia. I called the state police before I came down here and asked what I needed to do to register the firearms that I had in my possession; the answer was “nothing”.
In Georgia, you can purchase a firearm without any sort of license. If you have a weapons permit you’ll purchase on the basis of that if not, then you go through an NCC background check.
You don’t need a permit to possess a firearm in your house or in your car.
You don’t need to permit to purchase ammunition. Your firearms do not have to be stored locked up in your home.
I’m not even gonna start in on “assault weapons“.
This is a state government issue not federal and Massachusetts seems very unlikely to me to change.
Eight years bouncing back-and-forth between Georgia and Connecticut. I’m more and more dismayed and appalled by the state gun Laws in the northeast.
Supreme Court decisions don’t seem to be having any effect. I don’t know what will have an effect other than getting rid of your current government and I don’t see that happening. Gun owners are a less than adequately vocal minority in Massachusetts.
I remember I got stopped in Florida a week after I moved there from NH so not mass or ct level bad but still not south level of dgafI don’t see that happening in Massachusetts unfortunately.
