NYT: Here’s What We Can Do Now About Gun Violence

This guy has no idea how NCIC & background checks work

He's not wrong in the sense that there are aspects of the system that are greasy as f***, but all of that stuff is likely linked to concessions in between costs. admin burden as well as respecting
peoples rights. To fix these problems in the system, in large part, would require violating peoples rights in various ways. (particularly the shit this dumbass is talking about... fingerprints? really?) Esssentially the whole system violates our rights in the sense that it requires you to prove you are innocent before exercising a right. IMHO absent abolishing BG checks, they should fail open by default in 20 minutes or less, and leave the rest of the burden on the "state". Three day delays for some people every time you buy a gun, all of that stupid shit, should be unconsitutitonal on its face. And false denials should incur liability for the government. There are tens of thousands of false denials in the US every year, That simply doesn't happen if the system isnt greasy as f***.... [rofl] A false denial should be a $10,000 fine against the gov in the form of a civil rights violation. If that kind of thing existed the rate would drop to zero pretty fast....

He's advocating a solution in search of a problem.... Name one mass shooter that purchased a rifle with a forged driver's license...

Don't lie about it you commie turd. You just want a registry of gun owner fingerprints.

It's far worse than that, he wants to reduce the sale of all guns, which is exactly what that kind of thing would do. It would probbaly cut sales by 30-50% or more given the time burdens
alone. As it is when a gun shop gets busy the time gating caused by processing background checks is horrible. It would also have the side effect of increasing the cost of a transfer. With printing? There's no way a transfer isn't at least a $50-$100 operation.

Won't be long until they propose all restricted retail transactions require "REAL" identification; make every FFL purchase and use TSA-style "REAL ID" validators and all buyers present a valid "gold star" identity card or valid passport.

I'd give even odd such a bill would die, either by GOP adding "and same rules apply to voter registration" amendment or via a USSC case.

Had he proposed the same checks for voter registration, the left would've used the "burdens" argument against it, yet they'll never see the irony.

Fair point. I was just countering the author's argument.
It's important to remember and react accordingly, when we find ourselves facing anti-2A arguments based on false premises, that the author is cynically using rhetoric - not attempting to make a sound logical argument.

Mind, I did agree with you that:

But the author neither cares about that set of facts, nor can we assume he did or did not know the facts.

Clearly, the answer is to do what NY is trying to do, as it's quite a success.

1.) deny law abiding folks the ability to defend themselves
2.) ban guns
3.) release felons into society so they get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th........chance, especially the violent ones
4.) embrace racist policies like defund the police and no school choice
5.) stop teaching academic subjects, and stick to woke ed
6.) raise taxes
7.) make starting businesses an onerous, bureaucratic hell
8.) elect socialists

That's it! Now go out and enjoy your city, until you get killed, that is!
If you really want to understand what’s going on in our country, you need to listen to Darryl Cooper’s number 23 podcast about the black riots in the 60s. It’s behind a reasonably priced paywall, but it will open your eyes about what happened then, and what is happening now.
