HI I am thinking about joining that old colony sportsman assoc in Pembroke just wondering if any one here is a member and what are there likes and dislikes.

I have been a member for 15 years (I think thats right), it is a great club with lots of active members in all disciplines. I use mostly the outdoor range and shoot 5 stand. The shotgun sports are very well run and the outdoor range always has target frames. Unlike many clubs I have been to. If there is anything you would like to know specifically let me know or if you would like to check it out I'd be glad to show you around. John

I've never been there, but I've heard that club mentioned probably 1000s of times in my 34 years of shooting . . . and I've never heard a bad word said about that club. People speak very highly of it, so I'd definitely check it out if you live in that area.

I am not a member BUT do shoot there. Trap and five stand mostly. I like it there. If my money grows a bit I may apply for membership in the spring.
I would have been there today for the little Hanson vs Pembroke shoot but I have other plans and im going to the turkey shoot @ hanson sunday

Just joined recently. But kind of regretting the decision. It's my fault because I didn't research enough and really didn't think about my decision. But I can't stand that we can't shoot jacketed ammo inside, indoor range isn't 24/7, and they don't allow portable clay launchers.

I'll stick it out this year, but I'm moving on when my membership is up.

Just joined OCSA as well. I live VERY close by so it was the natural club for me to join.

I'm having a slightly tough time finding non-jacketed 9mm to shoot inside. Also the 10am start time certainly is a little limiting. We'll see how it goes.

I am thinking about this club very much, it looks like it has a lot to offer, I work in Duxbury and can hear them shooting most everyday, the fees are good and it is close too Plymouth.

OCSA is a great club, I highly recommend it. I was a member for several years, but long commute (close to an hour one way) became a problem.
Lots of great people. You won't regret joining it.

So far all I have heard about Old Colony has been good ~ [thumbsup] Now all I need is a License and something to shoot ~ lol

My brief experience has been pretty good over there. My wife and I head over often. The range officer tends to hover only around me but I look young. He accuses me of using the incorrect target frames for the set distances. I tell him that they are correct. Then he shuts the range down to walk out and check. Then tells me I'm on camera and he is watching for whoever shoots all the framework up. This happened twice now. Also told me that my targets were set wrong in the frame, he pointed to a picture of correct setup so the sides of the frames don't get damaged. I explained that mine is setup the same as the picture and I get a reminder of "well don't aim for the heads of the targets then". Meanwhile I was shooting center mass with a ar15/4x optic. The community as a whole is great. Friendly family atmosphere.

I used to know a lot of members there when I lived in Weymouth and belonged to Marshfield. It always seemed like a good club, as did Plymouth. I joined Plymouth when I moved to Wareham. If I got treated like that now, I would find a new club. And I am also currently looking for a new club as Plymouth seems to be overcome with Fudd rules.

I was there today and had him come up behind me after I dropped one of my mags and said he counted 16 rounds fired from my 30rd mag. I had the mag from a previous day at the range where it was full and didn't empty it down to 0 before coming there. I explained myself, then got lectured about how 10rds is enough, and with the short barrel the concussion was too loud. I must have gone over several times that it was the mass compliant muzzle break causing the noise but he didn't get it. My mosin was fine though.

I've looked at OCSA a few times but the draw backs for myself out weigh the plus. Only lead indoors & not 24/7. They seem to not like black guns over there. The plus is 200 yrd rifle & all the shotgun stations. It is very hard to find 1 club if you shoot some of everything. BRP has good indoor ranges & 24/7, outdoor is good for rifle & pistol but shotgun is poor. The range officers are hit or miss - they have some great guys & blowhards. Can't seem to win.
