Primary arms cyclops slx or the vortex spr200? New to the optics so go easy lol. I have astigmatism so prism work for me. And also, can you add on magnifie? Is like to start with the x1 optic and add magnifier

If you can afford the "G" (gold) for PA, it should be better. P>G>S.

That being said, I recommend you watch torture videos. I have seen some really good ones on Primary Arms sights. Although I can't find one where they drop the sight attached to a rifle.

Search this dude's videos, he throws his optics from the roof. He has a review on the 1x.

Magnifier - yes, you can use one. But why do you want one? ... eye relief kinda s*cks and the end cost is about the same of a decent LPVO.

I prefer LPVO, I don't like magnifiers.

Youtube recommended this to me yesterday.

I'm not an operator like many of you here. Can someone explain why the need for multiple 1X optics on a rifle?

Untitled.png

I wouldn't set it up that way, but he has one 5X, one 1x and one as backup.

And because this is MURICA and he can have all those sights.
But what about an EM-Pee though? Wouldn't it make more sense to have canted plastic irons? Again, I don't operate so what do I know.

I got 4 of the PA Cyclops 1x

It's my favorite optic, I'm not being cheap either

I love etched reticles and it checks all the boxes for me.

Fast site acquisition for CQB ( No I'm not an operator ).

Clear glass

Shake awake

Durable AF

There is another Prism optics worthy of checking out, the Vector Micro Prism, it's less expensive but some YT guys say it's more durable IDK it doesn't have the shake awake and the reticle is a little smaller, I have one but absolutely prefer the Cyclops.

There is a Gen 3 Cyclops coming out soon but the Gen 2 is awesome

The top rifle has the Vector, the bottom 2 are the Cyclops.

I use a riser mount on mine and no magnifier as you can see, if I'm thinking I want a magnifier I will go without it and just do an LPVO or a 3x or 5x prism as is.

Personal choice but in my experience magnifiers just flat out suck

I really like the eye relief and not having to be inside it to get a good view. I did have a red dot but it was horrible for my eyes. The two prisms I mentioned i was able to handle and liked. Just looking for pros and cons and some input. Some guys here play to many video games and busted the asvab so they cosplay with their weapons lol

Primary Arms is amazing value + quality for money. Some of their stuff is rebranded and polished Holosuns on the inside. Can you run a 1X prism with a magnifier? Surprised you're running your prisms that far forward on the receiver. No issues with eyebox? I'm still running the old Primary Arms MD-ADS paired with a nice MONSTRUM 3X Ghost prism magnifier. Magnifiers have come a long way and at least for me, with the MOE carbine fixed stock, I get a consistent reliable sight picture every time with the magnifier deployed.

I have zero issues with the eye box, for me having it that far forward on the riser I literally bring the rifle up and I'm on that reticle and I can still see the surrounding environment as well with both eyes open.

I was at Sig recently and almost bought a magnifier but again it just didn't do it for me, I'm sure for some people it works well, same as your Monstrom but I can't say I really need it for 100 yards or so, I hit pie plates at 100 yards at ease so it works for me as is.

They also offer a green reticle if that would help with the astigmatism, I always thought that was why they made a green reticle

So, the red dot or 1x prism will let you reliably target an 1” square at 50yds.
I just zeroed 2 uppers today with pintys on them. :) works great there, but not for a 100yds, not with my eyes.

For 100yds and further you will need magnification. How much - it’s up to you. 5x may make it not very practical for closer distances but will be great for a 100.

Rifle red dots may not be causing same halo effects like pistol red dots, btw. But you will need to test that.

If you get a magnifier, you will have to get close and some magnifiers have sh*t glass.

It would be good for you to define it's primary use.

OP provide more details

Whats your budget?

How many Xs? I ask because it seems like you may have some interest.

Size/shape concerns?

Weight?

Why I love LPVO for the use cases that 1X is needed but you might also need 5 or 6x. I don't own 8x LPVO.

Another option is a 3-x scope with a red dot or prism. But now it gets complicated, more expensive and heavier.

But the OP needs to define what he wants to do with it.

My Trijicon 3x magnifyer is good. The eye relief is probably a million times better than a 4X ACOG. Its probably in-between the acog and mini acog in terms of what your dealing with

You may have just sold me. Was thinking of moving my aim point PRO and 3x magnifier off my X95 anyways.

I have 2 lpvos, 1-6x and 1-10x.
To hit a center of mass of anything 1-6x is fine for up to 300. But as I shoot at holes in paper only these days - 6x does not show you that well at a 100.

I print benchrest targets on a bw printer and middle square there is a standard 1”, anyone can do that and draw his own conclusions what magnification your eyes require to see that well.

Ps. And I finally tested pintys in a full sun, and it performed perfectly. Best $7 or what it was back then, spent. I gave away one, so have only 3 now but all of them work and keep zero.

Here we go again the popular gun kids up in here gang up on me with a legit question.
Poor me. I can be offensive but when I get called out, I’m the victim. Let me grab my Guinness Book of World Records’ smallest violin and play you a little song…

The problem with even expensive magnifiers is they all have garbage eye relief, they’re not very fast, and even expensive ones have fairly horrible clarity at distance. I use them to zero red dots and then take them off.

If I've offended you or your family at some point when we crossed paths, I'm truly sorry that was not my intent. The anger just confuses me.

I’m not offended, just have an overwhelming compulsion to call someone out when they’re acting like a dickhead, especially when they then play the victim card, but you seem incapable of not relying on cards which is surprising for someone who proclaims to be Ivy educated.

In the context of this thread, putting aside your preconceived notions of my character, what have I asked that warranted such an emotional response? Again, sorry. This forum should be for everybody.

It's tough because I can only get my hands on a few to actually look through. I like the prism because of the eye relief and my astigmatism. But I'd like to be able to shoot close targets and distance as well. That's why I thought the added magnifier would be a plus.

Would a UH-1 work
