Hi Guys, I'm not sure if this is the correct area to post this in, but here I am. I have a FS Walther P-99 in .40 that kicks like a mule. I put a DPM recoil reduction kit in, but I didn't notice as significant a reduction as I did with the same kit in my G23. As a matter of fact, I didn't notice ANY reduction. Does anybody with the same gun/problem have any ideas, short of sliding on a Hogue? I love the gun, it's just not a lot of fun to shoot. Thanks for any help!

I had the same problem, gun fit my hand, was accurate, but was just no fun. I ended up trading it and a P22 for a Bushmaster AR-15.

One of those was my first handgun. I didn't notice that it kicked that much. Best advice I can give -- shoot stuff like .500 S&W and hot .357's in a 13 oz gun until it gets boring -- then go back to the .40

Good advice Tele_mark. How's this for irony? Just last week I picked up an SW 340PD. At 11.5 oz, with hot loads it makes the Walther feel like a bb gun!

That's the one I own, except mine's a 340 M&P! You're all set -- just keep shooting it until you're doing 50 rounds/session and wanting more. It really does work.

I have a 229 in 40 S&W and several 45 ACP pistols. My perception is that the 40 S&W has a sharper recoil vs more of a shove with the 45 ACP. The recoil impulse appears to be dampened slightly with the polymer framed guns. These arte personnal perceptions and I doubt there is any quantirtative data.

Have you tried switching out the backstrap for a different one from the one currently on it? That could possibly help. I never really felt the recoil on mine was all that bad. I'm just not a huge fan of the trigger personally.
