Is this weapon MASS compliant? I see a bunch of the PO on the approved firearms website but the model numbers don't match the numbers on PO's website? Any one have a clue on this, cuz i sure as hell don't.

I believe they got bought out by a big name company (freedom group?) , were completely gutted and revamped, and now offer and "new and improved" product, different than what we are used to complaining about. Which is why the new stuff is different, and ... From what I hear, not MA ok. I might be wrong though, someone will be along shortly to confirm if so.

Para = Crap. If they were bought out, then maybe they are better now. But I would guess that it would take a while to get the quality up if at all. If its the same people building them, the same tooling etc. Then prob not.

I had no issues with my circa 1993 P14.45... Of course, I was using it in competitions, so I was tweaking it as I went (to make it better in competitions) but it's also my carry gun. To be fair, I did change the frame after 5k-6k rounds went through it since I wanted more weight in the grip (original frame was alloy).

Not sure if I would buy one from them now. I'd be leaning more towards a full custom build. With at least a few really good smith's in the area it won't be hard to get that done.

I know someone who has a few of the older ones (Canadian Build?) and likes them. Once they changed hands, quality dropped off a cliff.

I had one from around 2007, junk. Locked up tight with a round in the camber. Among other issues.

Yeah, mine was made in Canada...

It'll be my first 1911 so i might just buy cheap and go with the R1 enhanced.

My dad has a stainless R1 basic and it FTE's on Winchester White Box 230gr FMJ. I don't know how they enhance the Enhanced. If you're looking for a more modern 1911, check out the STI Spartan. Beautiful gun, and cheaper than both the Black Ops and the R1Ehc'd

I would buy a new Series 70 however since I'm a Magnum PI fan.

I wouldn't be to concerned with any Mass "list" as there is usually a way to get what you want here in mass.... I would on the other hand be concerned with a newer Para.

STI Spartan or Trojan would be better options, along with many other makes bad models from various companies

I own a couple of Para P 16 .40s that function flawlessly. One I built from the frame up and the other was a stock gun that I replaced everything but the slide and frame. Para's QC sucks and their customer service is worse. I realize that Para is now owned by a new organization and the guns are "new and improved", but I think it would be wise to wait and see before investing any $ in a "new" Para.

If you want a para better off rebuilding it or hunting down a frame like me .

Good choice. You got all the bells and whistles- I can't think of anything I would add except perhaps a mag well for competition, which you can do yourself. I particularly liked the checkering on the front strap and the scalloping on the slide.

This can be a problem. Para has a history of drilling the slide stop holes in the wrong spot. This can cause the gun to break a barrel link every 3000 rounds or so. I found out the hard way. I called Barsto a while back and got Irv Stone on the line. When I explained my problem (broken barrel links) he chuckled and said that was a common problem with Paras. He then had me take several measurements on the frame and built me a barrel that was oversized in the right place to cure the link problem, at no extra charge. Barsto is great to business with.

I'm not worried about this. It's a Canada frame and the person who owned it before me didn't have any problems . But thanks for the tip.
