I have a Para Warthog and had a question about how the bullet should sit in the barrel. I keep on getting a feed and jamming problem.

Should the bullet not sit all the way in the barrel like the pricture below?

Or should it sit flush like the picture below?

I have a Sig 229 and M&P 9mm both sit flush in the barrel.

I don't know the answer to your specific question, but I suspect the seating of the bullet in both cases is fine. I suspect that your FtF and FtE are mag and possibly, but less likely, ejector related. Is this .45 a 1911? If so, the mags can make a difference on feeding. Some say the feed ramp makes a difference on feeding but I have read some credible evidence that the mags are normally the source of the problem. Lastly, the ejector may be fine, it may be the feeding round getting in the way by sticking up vertical as the slide retracts. Again, a mag issue. YMMV but the para is not known for it's reliability so small problems may amplify feeding alignment issues.

The article is here that I reference above.

Extractor issue

I have a Para Hawg 9. Samething happened to me. Took it back to Para and their replace the Extractor. I was getting the same issues, Stove Piping, Spent Casings not ejecting, FTE's. It was so bad that every shot was an FTE. Once I got back the gun no issues. Also Para's do not seem to like Lead bullets. FMJ or JHP works best.

The case should not extend past the barrel hood. It is possible that such a case could prevent the gun from locking up completely. This could lead to all sorts of problems, including stovepipes.

As was mentioned above, I would check the mags first and then the extractor. As Gammon mentioned above, the cartridge should be completely inserted in the chamber. If it is not and the gun fires you will get all sorts of problems to possibly include a case blow out resulting from the brass not being fully supported.

This is a .45

I have four mags and I'll look at them tonight.

Thanks Guys
