Symptom:

Far too many readers don't realize that hyperlinked text in forum posts
are (clickable) hyperlinks to some other content.

For example.

Diagnosis:

The default font and style are so thin that people can't distinguish
the blue link from vanilla text in black.

I don't see this problem on, say, Instapundit blog postings.

Cure:

Make the default style for links not merely blue, but bold?

For example.

As a further example, here's how it looks
when a bolded link is embedded mid-sentence.
Hopefully not too garish.

What's that - some Tapatalk feature?

Because it certainly doesn't sound like something I've tripped over
using Firefox on Windows (or Chromium on Linux).

ETA:
I've never even looked at a Tapatalk screenshot,
let alone used it.
It's just a setting. I use it on android and firefox on the laptop.

scroll down this page and you'll see on the left "default style." when you click, it gives you a couple of choices for your view, one of which is "dark style."

(I don't think that's the same color blue, or something...).

I know, but the faux link was only a distraction from the "real" joke.

That reminds me of the time I was at my sister's house and she foolishly left her computer on. I created a folder on the desktop called "Porn (locked)", took a screenshot, deleted the folder and made the screenshot the desktop background. Sadly, she figured it out fairly quickly, but it a pretty good one [laugh]

Dig it:
% cat >foo
cat: foo: No such file or directory
% # Hilarity ensues...
% ls foo
foo
% cat foo
cat: foo: No such file or directory
% od -c foo

We had years of skimwords and something else that would pop up every so often. I won't hit a link unless I know where it is going to take me. I would rather stay here on NES then jumping around the web, blindly.

Did not know about that, thanks for pointing it out.

I did try the dark screen tho and don't care for it.

That's a good one. My old go-to used to be when I'd mess with a friend's computer who was still using IE. I edit the icon to open IE in kiosk mode, set to whatever embarrassing page I wanted. That was often a full screen Youtube video of "It's Raining Men". He opened it up once in a room full of clients. He was mashing the keyboard trying to get it to stop.
