PHOTOS: 2009 NES Independence Day Shoot

Ok, I lurked there as much as I lurk here. First things first, big thank you to EC and crew for a great event. It was my first, and probably won't be my last.

Since I have a camera, I sometimes stalk while lurking. I have no clue who most of the fine folks are, and some of the pictures are repeats. However, I am posting them just in case there is a I knew that person moment...

I wonder, how did I miss that gun? [shocked]

That was Flotter390's lever-action .44-40 pistol. It has no sights. I looked down the barrel and aimed at the steel plate and missed. Twice. When I asked somebody where it hit, he said, "About 8 feet high and a little left."
So I compensated, and hit the plate.

So I just realized what I have been missing, and this convinced me to go green. See you guys at the next shoot.
Tim

i didn't put that in the video because i guess i was too nice. [laugh]

for pointing it out you can link to the thread tim posted from the pin shoot yesterday where i get totally dominated over the course of four pictures.

Sorry I couldn't make it. The ONLY thing that kept me from making the trip was that my two grown kids came to Maine for the weekend, and we spent that day shooting!!

Was with you all "in spirit!"

I hope there's some other get together of this type planned (not on 4th of July)....

First, thanks to the fellow member (one of the best known NES'ers) who gave me their ticket. He would probably be embarrassed by the huge display of public thanks he desrves, trust me. I have had a rough few months (who hasn't right?) and brain farted on signing up in time. But it was the best day out I've had in a long time.

If you're not a member and are reading this, the ability to attend this shoot is worth it alone. Of course, the info, resources, community, etc... here are worthy of your nineteen bucks anyway.

Because this member would not accept money for the ticket I put it towards a long overdue GOAL membership. Having the memberships available at the shoot took away my last excuse of "I'll get around to it sometime".

Anyway, as always, great to see old friends, meet some new folks, put more faces to screen names, etc... . I can wring my guns out any time, but getting together with this crowd is a rare treat.

Thanks to those that posted the pics and the videos. Great stuff. Started smling all over again looking at it all. I even made one of the pics...

And of course a huge thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make the day happen for the rest of us.

Steve

What was this?

Where can you get one?

When Steve McQueen carried one in "Wanted: Dead or Alive" it was a cut down lever-action rifle (as Mr. Twigg pointed out, they used to call it a Mare's Leg).

However, the one at the shoot wasn't a cut down rifle, it is (and always was) a handgun. The way you see it was the way it was originally manufactured.

[wave] Plainly I have a future as a forward artillery spotter. (Pay the failing eyesight no mind.)

The look on your face when you hit the plate was priceless. Pretty sure that pic of you above grinning like you won the lottery was taken right after the hit.

Can't believe I forgot to post my pics.[slap]

After scrolling through my memory card I found them tonight so... better late than never.

Well, of course my only interest is the hardware, but now that you mention it, the Ladies of NES are extraordinarily alluring.

There should be a series of NES calendars for all interest groups:

Hardware lovers: Guns of NES, 2010

Software lovers: Ladies of NES, 2010

um, Firmware lovers(?): Gents of NES, 2010
