Ok...gettin a fal to round out my collection of ebrs...decided on a dsa stg carbine...how do you tell if its inch or metric pattern and which is more desireable as far as mag availability???

i have a DSA 18" ..you want the metric for mag availability. look online for pics, the way to tell which is which is by the chamber ramp shape/design..or the presence of a fold over charging handle for the inch vs a fixed handle on the metrics

Ditto,

If your not already a member You would be advised to join the Falfiles.

Metric parts and mags are cheaper and more plentiful, and if I may interject MO they are more like the original Belgian FN FAL rifle. Inch pattern and or L1A1's are a licensed variant of the Belgian rifles.

Lots of Fal and other brand rifles for sale and parts as well, Ammo, Mags usually preban.

Some pics of my FAL'S.
I didn't show them as some of the pics are huge, Didn't want to disrupt the thread.

My DSA SS build in progress all thats left, Barrel attachment , headspace.

You will love it. I have an inch pattern and I'm pretty sure it fits both magazine types. Not sure though as I only have inch mags but I've been told metric mags will fit. There is a little tab on the front of the magazine for inch pattern that isn't there on the metrics.

An excuse to post a pic of my FAL wearing Ironwood...Maybe it might spur me on to finish repairing the wood and re-applying tung oil...

I just picked up a stock just like Gregs but paid quite a bit less than half.

SCHWING!!!!

Damn it, Greg. You're going to make me tap into my milsurps fund to get some of that wood for my FAL...

(Man, $220 - and that's the OLD prices!)

Ok...just found out...its got metric mags...I won't even tell you what I'm payin for it ;)

DSA builds (almost?) all their FALs on metric receivers so you should be GTG.

Congrats. You're gonna love it. Your wallet will hate you, but you will love it. Since it will eat almost anything .308/7.62x51 with a turn of the gas system, definitely look for deals on bulk milsurp.

I have already shared my source.

I will divulge it once again.

www.falfiles.com

And for those that are really into FALS there is FalFest.

A video from the 08 FalFest. Looks like just a bunch of guys shooting pistols.
