Because everyone has their list of needs, and if all you need is a red dot the "works", why spend an extra c note or 3 to get nothing extra of value?Being realistic, a 3 MOA dot means at 100 yards anything within 3" is within your zero. So it's ability to "hold zero" is really relative. If you are going to be using a red dot, even with a magnifier, does it matter if it shifts an MOA around while its on there? Not really. And based on people using pinty's on some really ridiculously large caliber rifles, it won't shift. So if your checklist is 1. Holds zero 2. can take abuse 3. has an easy to change batteryThere isn't a reason to buy more than a pinty. If you want to spend more just to say you spent more, it's your money. But to castigate someone for buying something that meets their needs is just being a douche. Don't be a douche. The only nice feature missing from a pinty is shake awake. But the $50 to $300 saved sure buys a lot of batteries.
