Places you can't carry in MA

Never heard that about casinos. Of course I've only been to a casino in MA once just to check out the Encore not too long after it opened.

I don’t believe casinos are restricted

Thanks for the link, I knew there was a link out there but couldn't find it for the life of me. Article appears to be wrong. They also don't mention the MA Steamship Authority.

Yup. You'll get trespassed if they catch you, but you can carry in a casino no problems.

Pre-parking lot shooting I'd carried in encore many times. They have a metal detector now, so instead of leaving my gun behind I just don't go.

Edit- Aug 2023:

205 CMR 138.20 Makes it illegal to possess at the casino, but basically says to trespass and notify your licensing officer. Bruen would have issue with pulling your license for carry in this manner I believe.

So, if I have scuba gear, I'm good?

No metal detectors at the Casino in Springfield or if there are they don't work. Concealed is concealed. My wife loves to go to the casino and sometime I will accompany her. Not to gamble I do not derive any pleasure from gambling but to keep her company while she losses money. She likes to play this card game Let It Ride. She has a good time losses some money and never questions anything i purchase win win for me. Back to guns in the casino there are no signs so as long as you don't flant it I guess it is ok.. I have never had a problem

A casino or Massachusetts?
I must at times return south but be assured. It ain’t a happy return however close friends for close to 50 years changes things when he was in our wedding almost 32 years ago. It’s his youngest who was raised “right”. Hard working MFer with smarts.

At the CT casinos you are on sovereign tribal land. They set the rules and the rule there is that only Tribal Police can carry. Even the CT State Police are supposed to leave their sidearms behind if they come inside.

I know people who work at the CT casinos since I grew up in that area, but I know nothing about the casinos in MA.

The biggest thing to remember going in is you aren’t going to win big and are lucky to break even. Best to go in with a set amount you are willing to pay for the experience.

I read that article too. I thought this was an interesting paragraph.

School grounds, without prior written permission from the board or officer in charge, not including guns that are properly stored prior to entering school grounds.

You can't carry in courthouses, but that is by order of the court, not statute. You also can't carry a knife. There are metal detectors there which just about everyone must pass through. Police officers can carry.

I suspect our soon to be governor Healy will be doing end runs around the SCOTUS decision to curtail NY restrictions. We will see a lot of legislation limiting public places where firearms are allowed. She is not going to give up her agenda anytime soon.
This is why you can't trust carpet baggers from the o' so great state of New Hampshire they move here and enact frivolous gun laws. I just don't know why we can't have a border law for those coming from New Hampshire that they can only stay here for no more than 30 days!

Indian reservations, including casinos operated by tribes are sovereign lands. A late friend was part Indian and explained a lot of how that works, but it was years ago, so I don't remember the details.

I just figured the Indians make up the laws on their own land, kind of like how the state "allows" them to open a casino in the first place. No federal taxes on cigarettes etc.

That's correct. Driving onto reservation land you are effectively leaving the US and entering another country. Sort of like when you enter Vatican City.

Yes it is illegal in MA to POSSESS a firearm on ALL casino property. I have posted it before. It is 205 CMR 138.20

Likewise, it is illegal to possess a firearm on Massport airport properties unless it is in a locked case for checking in to a flight. It is 740 CMR 30.04-.05
