I'm getting tired of punching holes in paper. Is there anywhere near Franklin, MA that I can shoot steel plates? When I was at Cabela's the other day the guy there was telling me harvard sportsmen club, but that's a 45 minute drive from me. Hoping for something closer.

You could pick up some ar500 and make your own targets. They are very affordable and makes shooting a lot more fun. There are quite a few websites that sell plates. Some clubs have dumb rules regarding shooting steel, so I would check with your club about what is allowed.
shootsteel.com or even amazon.

I wouldn't know I am from the South Shore. I believe most places would allow it, but will have certain rules about how close you can be to them. My club, hanson rod and gun club, allows it. But I think it is probably 50mins from you.

Hopkinton Sportsmen's is pretty close to Franklin. Lots of steel for the members to shoot there. I even hold a steel plate shoot open to the public there once a month.

Taunton might be holding an outdoor steel plate shoot 3rd Sunday of this month, check the club section for updates.

Check the pistol shooting section, Hopkinton holds one indoors. Knowledgable and very helpful shooters there.

Thank you for replying I was looking at HSA, but I couldn't see anything on their website about plate? Do they have designated ranges for it? or is it usually just a special event type of thing?

Thank you for those suggestions, I'll have to check them out!

Mansfield Fish & Game allows you to bring your own steel.

MF&G owns steel but it is used for the cowboy shoots and is locked up with all the cowboy gear the rest of the time.

Harvard does not allow plates other than the few they have set up.

Southboro Rod and Gun put one up in the last few months. Shot a few hundred at them yesterday afternoon. Agreed, paper gets boring sometimes and the ting sound never gets old.

At Hopkinton , The 100 yard range, the 200, and 4 out of 6 of the pistol bays have permanent steel targets in place for members' enjoyment.
