So I'm looking for another pump. I will be looking to buy at the beginning of the year. I was a Mossberg again and for some reason I really like the 590 with the ghost rings and the 18.5 barrel. And the one that already has the shorter length of pull stock. Is it possible to buy it online and have that model shipped to an ffl if I can't find one then.

I assume this a good price but I don't know much about the 590s. I have an older 500.

At checkout, find the FFL on their list that you'd like to use and select them. If they're not on the list, have your FFL fax them a copy of their license to grabagun. Add credit card info, place order, done. Bought 4 guns from them with no issues. $5.99 shipping on all firearms.

I have also had good experience w grabagun. I like them.

WRT ghost ring sights iam not a huge fan but i can see the appeal. Personally i find the time to getting my sights on target is quickest w bead sights. I have gotten used to flinging 1oz slugs at 50-100 yards w a bead sight, but i will say the ghost rings do make range slug shooting easier assuming the POA and POI are close

have you seen the mariner model? Also short barrel, kinda cool looking.

If you don't mind dealing with Dick's they'll order any Mossberg for you. I was looking for a 930 last year and they pulled out the book and said they could order but I ended buying something off the rack, so idk how long it takes.

You could, but by the time you factor in shipping and FFL transfer fees it's probably cheaper to have your normal dealer just order it for you. (Unless you have a buddy that will do free transfers or something.) It's not like a 590 is some rare gun that only a handful of dealers can get.

No I know it's not rare. I just like the 18.5 barrel one and the one that already has the youth stock. But that's saying when I have the money to buy one in a few I won't be able to find one off the shelf.

i actually started with a 18.5" barrel and bought a new tube, follower, barrel, and spring from mossberg to bring it up to the full 20" and add the bayonet. i do regret i didn't go with the ghost rings, i've got just a bead. still, it's a shotgun... shoots fine with the bead.

i love the 590 however, i prefer mossberg controls to remington any day of the week.

Yea I had a nice 870 but the safety even with the enlarged one sucked vs. The Mossberg and the release is in a crappy spot on the rem.

You can get an 12" LOP Hogue rear stock for the 590 with or without fore-grip for $55. I love my 9 shot 590A1 w/ the ghost sight. I'm left-handed so the controls are easy to operate. The safety on the 590 is metal and NOT going to accidentally pop out of position. I would have to say if I could only own ONE shotgun, it would be the 590 even over my LH Benelli!

My used/abused 590A1 came with a Speed-feed stock (pretty cool idea, but LOP was way too long for me !!! LOL, I have long arms, but I think you have to be 5'10"+ to be able to use the S-F stock effectively!

YMMV

Yea I'm short and have T-rex arms haha. I had the shorter LOP speed feed stock on my 870 and wish I went with the hogue. I just like the 18.5 barrel. But if I have my way I may skip the shotgun and go for a PTR

I like a shorter stock on all my shotguns. Easy to cut down with an electric miter saw, especially the poly stocks.

I've cut down plenty of stocks on a tablesaw, but when you shorten the poly stocks, how do you get the mounting holes for the recoil pad to re-attach again ?? LOL, I'm talking about 2" off a poly stock? I have an old Ramline for a bolt action I got about 20 yrs ago, but couldn't figure out how to make it work. If it is wood, you can just re-drill new holes. Not able to do that with a hollow stock. I guess I could epoxy some wood in there and countersink some exterior screws, but that would be kind of fugly AND add weight to the stock.

The PTR is cool, but I'm too cheap to start collecting .308 brass & ammo now. Would you use the PTR as a home defense gun? Seems a little too much. A round would go through the hole house almost. LOL

No the PTR is just a cool rifle

It's been a few years since I did any of mine. I think the screws went into a molded channel more or less. I will pop off the buttpads tomorrow and take a look.
