My son in SC informed me that he's interested in buying a Rock River setup. He asked for my advice for which I don't have a lot of answers in that I carried a M16 deviant (CAR-15), knew how to fire it and clean it but that's about where it ends. He wanted to know what add-ons he should have etc., The following is what he's looking at. Anyone willing to offer him some advice would be most appreciated!

RRA LAR-15 Elite Operator- BB2520. . . . . . . . . . . . . Regular MSRP $1,325- With Coupon MSRP$1,060
Please choose Scope Mount: ❏1 Inch RRA Hi-Rise Scope Mount - #AR0130 ❏30mm RRA Hi-Rise Scope Mount - #AR0131
AND please choose RRA Rear Sight Assembly:
❏A2 Carry Handle - #AR0052CASY ❏Tactical Carry Handle - #AR0125ASSY
❏Dominator2 EOTech Mount - #AR0125FASSY ❏Stand Alone Rear Sight - #AR3305ASY

I cannot answer your question, but I did shoot a buddy's AR15 this weekend with a Rock River 2-stage match trigger and it was AMAZING. I'll be ordering one for one of my AR's.

he should look at ALL the other manufacturers, such as Stag Arms, Bushmaster, Smith and Wesson, DPMS, LaRue, Yankee Hill Machine co and decide which one he likes best.

what is his intended use?

does he want to run an optic? if so, what kind? i.e. red dot (AimPoint, EoTech) or magnified (Super Sniper, Leupold ect.)

i think he should browse around BEFORE he buys....

barrel length? 16" 20" and 24" are common once, but 18" is also an option...

does he want rails or an "old school" set up with standard handguards...???

[laugh] -yeah, it's a LEGO, build as you like... [wink]

i would recommend that he browse 4 to 5 AR manufacturers websites and narrow down models, then go from there....

ChetD.........good question regarding his intended use. It would be interesting to ask anyone why they buy an AR. His answer, and I haven't yet asked, will probably be something like "it's a man thing" or "getting ready for the revolution". I don't know.

Good suggestion about browsing other AR manufacturers. I believe he has to an extent and seems to think the Rock River is to his liking. Kind of like choosing between a Chevy or a Ford isn't it? His goal is to get the best setup he can and unfortunately I can't answer the question.........which is why I've thrown it out to those have built, bought, modified, and "legoed" the best setup.

rifle kits from Del-ton, minuse stripped lower (the actual gun)

YHM: http://www.yankeehillmachine.com/store/AR_Rifles.html

S&W: http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/...1&parent_category_rn=15701&top_category=15701

i actually like YHM and S&W the most. however, i own a DPMS carbine and have a whilte oak upper on order....

the carbine is "tacticool" / zombie killer while the white oak upper will be going on a Stag Lower w / A2 butt-stock..... [smile] totally old school

there are others, Lewis Machine and Tool (LMT), Bravo Company Manuf. ect....

*i am NOT affiliated with any of these brands or websites*

Yes any configuration he wants. Complete uppers, lowers or complete guns.
Please contact us to discuss details and pricing.
RRA does not manufacture anything they purchase all parts from other venders and build their guns.
We manufacture our own lowers, barrels, uppers and now most of the small parts. We can control the quality and not have to deal with outside venders on the major components. This also allows us to be competitive with price. Each one of our uppers or complete guns is custom built to your specs at off the rack prices.
Contact us to spec your gun. We are also local and you can stop by and speak with us in person, look and touch the components that will be going into your gun. Our location may not be practical for your son in CS to stop buy so if you like he can send us some photos of what he wants and we can send back mock up sample photos. He can also call to discuss his needs. Please use our email for photos. remsportsales@aol.com.

Thank you
