I have a full size S&W M&P .40

This happens when I have a mag in the gun.
I then turn the gun from side to side I hear a rattling noise coming from the gun, anyone know what this is?

Gun shoots fine though.

My M&P compact .40 does not do this.

Hey Italianbostonian....I have an M&P 9mm compact that I bought maybe 6-8 months ago brand new and mine makes that rattling noise also. You will find that the rattling noise is coming from the magazine, for some reason the rounds lower in the magazing rattle around a little bit. Try removing the magazine and give it a jiggle, at least that's where the noise comes from on mine. I was PO'ed when I first heard it but, it hasn't affected the operation of my gun at all. Hope that puts you at ease....

my M&P 40 does this as well.

I usually unload a few rounds, usually 2 to 4 rounds and reload them until it goes away or i stop caring. [laugh]

nine are neutred ones as well.

*pure speculation on my part*
the 10rd mags are loose, in that you can almost fit an 11th round in it, so the rounds don't always seat properly, hence the rattling round

sometimes, i'll remove 2 or 3 rounds and it stops... when i reload the 2 or 3 rounds, it may or may not rattle. this happens in all four of my mags btw...

Same here. This happens with all 4 of my mags on my M&P 40c. Annoying, but I don't hear it when I am carrying and I haven't had any issues with the operation of the gun.

I will definately have to try the unloading and reloading trick and see that has any impact.

Unfortunately the neutered ones.
Can't find any duty ones anywhere.

That's what I was thinking as well. The dimensions of the magazine were engineered to hold more rounds than MA will allow it to. So it's possible that the rounds just don't fit well because MA sucks.

If you are using cripplemags its the cartridges in the mag.

Cripplemags always do this on lots of different guns. The only ones that don't seem to do it are the Beretta and possibly Glock
mags, but they both use a different kind of capacity restriction instead of making the mag tube physically shorter. (which IMHO, sucks).

If you are LE any decent shop in NH will have the correct mags, btw.
