About 9-10k thru mine. Never had an extraction or jam issue. I don't recall ever having a failure other than dud rounds (FTF). I carry it everyday. MP9 full size.

Ii have 4k through my m&p9, over 3k of that on a business end customs trigger job..... Not one ftf/fte ever. Support your local/nes gunsmith, get a better price and a better trigger. www.businessendcustoms.com.

My business end trigger job not only gave me a great, smooth trigger reduced to 5lbs but also corrected the lack of tactile/audible trigger reset. To the best of my knowledge the dcaek apex kit DOES NOT correct this issue

The apex RAM does.

We all know that Lou at Business End is a M&P guru and does excellent work. I think the OP is asking about the Apex extractor.

If used for
Self defense don't change factory trigger.

My next gun purchase will likely be a smith M&P. My question is do you think that getting the APEX Failure Resistant Extractor is worthwhile? Also I plan on making this my carry gun so I want it to be as reliable as possible. So also I'd like to know how about many rounds you've put through it and how many times it has jammed if any?

I've had exactly one failure with my M&P9. I don't have 1,000s of rounds through mine, but that doesn't matter for this.

My firing pin broke. The pointy tip snapped off right at the junction with the larger body of the striker. I've got pictures of it somewhere if anyone is interested.

S&W sent me a replacement, free of charge, but pointed out that they shouldn't have/didn't need to, since I wasn't the original purchaser.

Note that S&W has changed the design to fix some problem with the early strikers, but my failure was *not* the failure they redisigned the striker to fix. The new one is made of a different material, so it might prevent it anyway.

> 50K rounds through my 9c. i DID have extractor issues early on that were rectified by the FRE from APEX. No other significant issues though.

Never had a FTE/FTF on my 9c. I wouldn't worry about the extractor.

Definitely get the trigger fixed with either a gunsmith job or the APEX kit. Then spend the extractor money on more practice ammo.

Thanks for the replies. I've decided that after I buy the m&p I'll likely send it to a gunsmith for a trigger job. I tried shooting an M&P with the stock MA trigger and didn't like it. I'll buy the apex extractor only if I get FTEs.

My apologies as you are correct. I got caught up in reading the following posts I forgot about that.

To the OP, I have not had any feed/extraction issues in 4k rounds with my stock extractor

9C here but never an issue and probably close to 10K through it. I also had the 40Cfor awhile and probably put 3K through it.

Only a few hundred rounds through my M&P9mm. No issues so far. My only problem is the beavertail on the full size M&P can be a little uncomfortable when carried IWB. It'd read online about a few people using a Dremel and sandpaper to grind it down to be more like the compacts, but I'm afraid of screwing it up. Overall I am a fan of the M&P line. A week after buying the full sized 9mm I bought an M&P Shield. Another great gun.

Really? I thought they had a lifetime warranty regardless of owner/purchaser?

At least 5k collectively through my M&Ps the 9mm FS and 9c. I did put the DCAEK and RAM in both with no issues whatsoever. Not sure if the extractor is necessary, but I am also not a gunsmith, so just relating my experience.

I shoot IDPA with the FS and CCW the 9c love both guns. I think you'll enjoy the M&P too!!
