Due respect, but comparing angry, illterate Somali militiamen to a pair of D-boys is not quite a level playing field. I don't think that example has anything to do with the AK-47. You don't think the outcome there would have been any different if the Somalis had had ARs, do you? I think it would have gone exactly the same way. Quantity vs quality was at issue in that scrap, and quantity was going to win eventually.Besides, it's well-established that Aidid's militia did NOT just have AK-47s. A huge number of FAL and G3 rifles in 7.62x51 were washing around Africa in the 1980s, and a lot of them found their way to Somalia.Stack up a bunch of gruff Spetznaz guys with AKs against a comparable group of fledgling D-boys with CAR-15s around 1979 and tell me how you think that would go. Probably be a pretty even matchup, honestly.
