Okay, I know, Taurus, the "t word", now that we got that out of our systems.

I was in the market for a hand cannon. I found a STUPIDLY low priced deal on a 454 Casull, almost a no-brainer low price, but I've never shot one. (Yes the S&W 500 is still in the running, obviously, but the price on this is seriously hard to say no to)

Anyone have one? Shot one? Opinions?

If the price is right, grab it!

I own two Taurus handguns. A 9mm PT92 and a .357 six inch that I picked up from Adam @ Acme. Both work great.

You DO reload, correct?

It looks like it would be fun to play around with. Definitely different than any revolver out there! The only big revolver I have ever shot was the Tarus Judge with .410 and 45LC

Edit: Ahh shit I thought you were talking about a Rhino revolver. My bad.
Either way, that .454 looks like a fun toy

Negative....

HOLY CRAP! THAT'S MY GUN!

That is the same gun I shot years ago, only the one I wanted was chambered in 357... 7 shots, 6.5" ported barrel...

ooo, if I wasn't saving up for a new car, I'd be all over that thing like a comicon geek would be on Milla Jovovich dressed as Leeloo Dallas.

Buy it, then sell it to me in a few months when you get "tired of it"[rofl]

ETA: Turns out the 357 is the tracker series, not the raging bull... still, I wouldn't argue against one in 357 and one in 454.

I have had a RB in 454 for quite a while. It has held up fine. Great looking, good shooting (after some wolff springs). I generally run 45lc with it. 454 is just miserable to me.
But, it is definitely on the heavy side.

I was debating on even throwing a scope on it [devil2]. New OC piece when I'm in NH. muhuhaha

I am trying to remember. But I did try a scope on mine. I don't remember if there was a mount or exactly how it attached but, I do have all the hardware to do it. But, it was just silly (to me). way too heavy and the balance got all sorts of bad quick.

If you end up buying that and it does not come with the mounting thingie (if there is one), we could work out you giving it a try before sinking more money in.

The scope and mount just made an already too heavy gun awful(imo).

I was watching a youtube video of a guy dropping feral boars with it like it was a liquidation sale.

What barrel size was yours?

I think it's the 6" or 6.5". at the time, i got it I think that was the only way it came.

I think later on they came out with an 8" (it included a nice reel so you have it double as a fishing pole).

The one I'm looking at is an 8. I've shot full size 29s, huge super blackhawks, never really had a problem. Hows the balance compared to those?

You'd have to try it and see if you liked it. But the big Ruger/ S&W IMO balances a lot better. Having held but never shot the 8, I much preferred the 6".

But the 8" could be way different in terms of how a scope works on it. If the idea is a scoped hunter, the 8" may actually be preferable and perform better. the balance might actually make sense. But no experience so, I don't know.
