what brand of linseed oil did you use...I did not want to thread jack the Garand thread from yesterday, but to the topic of Raw Linseed Oil:
This was a new production Minelli 1903 stock that I finished in RLO. Nothing else.
Jan 2017, only a few weeks old. The stock was originally almost white, the original coats of RLO brought out the grain a little and changed the color ever so slightly. The HG was NOS USGI and is a different walnut.

Jan 2018, this represents 5-6 coats of RLO after aging for a year. At the end of the season last year (November), I applied another very thin coat.

Why would you use Raw instead of Boiled?
This.
I use boiled for all my projects with great results. Will the raw oil eventually go rancid?
I know that is a problem with some raw oils. That’s a big reason I only use the boiled.
the only reason is it has the fatty acids in it that will over time cause the reaction that gives the old M1 stocks that deep redish patina. Why would you use Raw instead of Boiled?
it can go rancid and grow mold also, although it should cure before that happens if applied correctly.This.

I need to do more research or have someone give me some advice before I possibly ruin the stock. Never done any sort of wood refinishing before...Probably just overthinking it like I do with most things...
