Hi,
Anyone knows when i can go and see it? when is it open? how much is the membership and enterence fee? is there a waiting list currently?
i called but they are never there.

Thanks.

you need to be sponsored by a member in good standing, and even that's no guarantee.

there aren't any "open" days where people are always there. reading, like most clubs, is run by volunteers. if they're there...cool. if not, tough.

membership is $150 a year, $150 initiation, and $10 for the key fob. it's extremely restrictive due to the fact that we have a 600yard range, and we'd rather not have people attempting to shoot 600 yards unless we know they have a good idea of what it means to take a shot at that kind of range. actually, I believe they're instituting a "qualification" of sorts to use the 600 yard range.

why the hell did you start a new thread though....theres a thread about Reading Rifle literally ONE POST BELOW THIS ONE...answering all your questions.

thanks!
yeh well i can shoot five four three.... which are bigger then othe clubs max.
i did not find the answers you just gave me at other thread which is quite old by the way.
Is there a waiting list currently?

the other thread is older, and is updated on a fairly regular basis.

yes theres a waiting list

and no, being on a waiting list doesn't guarantee you'll ever get in

and no, you can't just shoot 500 or 400. there are no firing lines @ 400 or 500 yards. and shooting anywhere else is still somewhat restricted...as most of us practice when the weather is nice.

what the fascination with shooting past 200 yards? are you planning on shooting rifle competitively? what are you planning on shooting? if they see you @ 600yds with a 16" M4 trying to shoot 55gr ball, i can guarantee you'll be asked to leave. theres quite a bit that goes into making a shot...an you don't know what you're doing, you could put a round out of the range quite fast.

well maybe not with 16 inch. but with 18 inch lwrc repr (which i do not have) and right scope you can do it.
in good weather you shoud be able to do it even with 5.56 M6 not with colt of caurse.
Also with scoped mosin nagant or svt40 soviet snipers were taking down germans at range of above 1200m. I dont know how you determined that i do not know what i am doing but anyways......What is the next longest range after 600?

yea, good luck with a mosin @ 1200 yards.

you wanna prove you can make that kinda shot? PM me your name/number. i'll even put the elevation dope on a rifle... you keep a 20shot string inside the 8ring, i'll sponsor you myself.

I can't prove it to you because I have not shot these distances for a long time...
That is why I want the club.
What other ranges you have? What is the longest after 600?

Pretty sure you're a troll, but if not your best bet is to come shoot some matches as a guest of the club. Show that you're capable of making safe shots and not ~too~ much of an a-hole and eventually someone will offer to sponsor you. (I probably shot 20 matches before I got the offer, but I'm an a-hole.....)

It's not about being "elite" or anything like that, it's just that as the only 600 yard range in MA the members tend to be VERY careful about who is allowed to shoot unsupervised. One bad apple and no more Reading. That would suck and the Nashua guys most likely wouldn't want us as members so we'd really be bumming.

There's nothing longer than 600 in MA that I know of. There's a 1000 in NY and another 1000 rumored to be under construction in NH but that's it.

What's wrong with a Colt?

You are not a Soviet sniper.

Qwerty53 is back and big claim about sniper experience. I wonder if he ever shot more than 10 yards.

Sent from my broken iPhone.

Huh?

Both the Mrs. and I have fired 10's with a simple Colt Match Target and 69gr Federal Gold Match at the 600 yard line at Reading. My Colt has an Armalite trigger and National Match front sight. Other than that it is stock.

I'll like to see if Mr. Topshot (aka qwerty53) here can make the shot at even 200 yards. I hope his shooting skill as good as his typing skill. [rolleyes]
